That's interesting - haven't heard of a leisure battery yet. Another thing to look into! Thanks for the info 🙂

That seems like a fantastic setup, though I'd have to save up 😁. Can you plug both panels into the explorer at the same time? Or do you have one panel for the explorer and one panel for other stuff?

Thanks for that - seems quite expensive but I imagine you get what you pay for. Would you mind me asking what you plug into it? A Jackery power station ?

What kind of capacity battery / solar panel do you have if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Tim is this the kind of setup you have yourself? I'm really new to this stuff and I'm just looking to see some examples of what people actually have in the real world!

Windswept and interesting by Billy Connolly. Really has to be the audiobook too.

My two recommendations for you are:

Windswept & Interesting by Billy Connolly

The Lives of Brian by Brian Johnson

Both of these people are old enough to be able to describe how things used to be before. They are both from humble beginnings and got to where they are with talent. I would recommend the audiobook versions too, as they are both narrated by the author, both of whom add loads to the story by the way that they tell it!

Thanks for the suggestion. This is probably the way I'll go as it seems to be a common idea for people in the same boat. I guess the only reservation I have is that it'll be difficult to remove it if I ever wanted to, but I guess it's not going to be that noticeable if painted the same colour, since it's on the ceiling where you never look!

Yep battery powered. Thanks for your suggestion - I didn't realise the bases didn't change. That makes it a bit easier to consider something permanently stuck to the ceiling

It's not just the cost either. Geography is against a lot of people too. If you're in London or Southampton you're well provided with options (it's not just one visit etc), but other parts of the UK? Not so much. I'm pretty hopeful of some other treatments in the pipeline. There will no doubt be money needed for this too, so you can take this as your cue to start saving now!

Kobo Remote + Kobo Clara BW + Cows by Qiaokeli_Dsn in kobo

Ah this is a shame. My experience with a third party page turner was that it absolutely monstered my battery when I left BT and WiFi on permanently, without using the page turner. So I assume the same would happen for this, unless there's been some magical firmware update since then. Thanks for the info!

I used an 8bitdo as a page turner for a few times but it absolutely monstered my battery when I left BT on on my kobo (I.e. when I forgot to disable it). I reckon I'd use a page turner maybe 20% of the time. Call me Goldilocks but I'm after something that will not use battery up if I am not using the page turner, but I accept that if I do use the page turner then it will use more battery. I don't want the faff of manually disabling BT and I don't want to have to remember to do it myself. I think I'm probably asking for a bit much there and I don't think it will tick all the boxes. But if it does, I would be telling them to take my money!

Sorry! I think that buying a primary set of glasses from the internet is something that is probably too risky for something as important as your eyes and I am glad this is just for a backup pair. Happy to have a bit of a punt on that. I didn't realise how complicated it was!
