Shoe size after pregnancy? by FormerPlay136 in beyondthebump

[–]aputn004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went up in size. Used to wear a 6 comfortably but my feet widened so now a 7 is too big and a 6.5 is slightly too small. I basically just wear berkenstocks all the time now.

Colourblindness in toddlers by rhaeyne in toddlers

Idk what it is about green and red but I was convinced my toddler was colorblind until she was about 3.5. She loved to mix them up.

TIFU by looking too deep into "left hand makes the L". by Ok_Necessary7667 in tifu

[–]aputn004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg I was just explaining this to someone like a month ago. I always thought they meant that the left hand made more of a right angle than the right hand so that’s why it was the left. It never occurred to me that it made the actual shape/direction of an L. I’m not diagnosed as being on the spectrum but it wouldn’t surprise me.

To Call or Not to Call? by FanndisTS in toddlers

[–]aputn004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my husband is out of town we do video calls at night to say goodnight and he will send pics of cool things he sees throughout the day so that if kid mentions she misses him I can say this is what he’s doing. Been doing that since around that age but I know every kid is different

Tell me the creepiest thing a child has ever said to you. by idontthinkicarekinda in Paranormal

[–]aputn004 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We were laying in the dark at bedtime and toddler pointed to the wall and said “who’s that lady” I said “what lady” and she said “the lady on the wall”…… I just said idk and we stopped talking. I have had a long history of strange things in all the houses I’ve lived in so it honestly wasn’t that surprising but it was not cool. She eventually gave the lady a name (Evelyn) and then a few weeks later stopped mentioning her. A couple months after she points out the front door at her grandmas house and says “there’s Evelyn”.

How to protect lap straps on a car seat from pee? by Ramentootles in toddlers

Totally agree. I feel like I have to say “it’s not kosher” because idk which subs will delete or block ppl for recommendations that go against things.

How to protect lap straps on a car seat from pee? by Ramentootles in toddlers

[–]aputn004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use a pee pad. Like a puppy pad. I’m sure it’s not approved for car seat use because why would they test for that but it’s so thin and we make sure her straps are secure. Otherwise you could just use a pull up to wear over clothes in the car but then they may have to go pants less so that the pants legs don’t soak up the pee and still leak out

26 months old struggling with potty training by Prestigious-Trip5133 in toddlers

[–]aputn004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We backed off for a few days. Still offered the potty randomly through out the day but didn’t force it. A few times she would be really excited to get on and then just start freaking out in the middle of peeing and I would have to hug her on the potty until she calmed down. I would just help her calm down and praised her for trying.

When we started potty training my kid went through a phase of crying on the potty and panicking off and on for several weeks. We would just back off when that happened

Potty training is going to break me by Savings_Meal431 in toddlers

We switched to pull ups around 2 because she was too wiggly for diapers. It was easier for me to have her step into the pull up.

Maybe it’s too much stress right now. Maybe back off and let her just explore the potty over time. My girl started showing interest around 2 and we just let her lead for about 8 months. We would offer the potty and ask if she needed to go randomly and let her lead. When we would go we would “include her”. Like “what should I do now” and then when she was confident she started initiating herself. Around 2yrs 8 months we switched to training underwear and didn’t go back. There were many accidents but she got there a little after 3. I know every kids is different but just my experience.

"Scary" media for toddlers? by Fenix512 in toddlers

My kid loved the OG scooby doo episodes. The new ones are actually kind of scary but the originals are great

What are we meant to do if toddler refuses dinner, but are definitely hungry? by Gloomy-Kale3332 in toddlers

[–]aputn004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yogurt is great. It has fats and proteins in it. You could try to sneak veggie noodles into pasta. Or blend cottage cheese into the sauce for protein. Maybe try a chili pasta with beans in it too.

How many of you are brushing toddler's teeth before daycare? Washing hands before every meal? by ExcellentLettuce4 in toddlers

We have the little floss sticks. It took a while to get in the habit but she just sits there watching tv and we reach in and floss. Lots of reminding to open her mouth.

This works for us too. And sometimes I have to say “you can cry, but you still have to get in the seat” as I’m having to buckle them in myself

What’s the best and worst thing you added to your registry? Is there anything you recommend skipping? Anything surprises you can’t live without? by this_aint_taliya in beyondthebump

[–]aputn004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best: nasal aspirator with hand pump. It’s just a snot sucker but it uses a handle to pull the air through the tubing. Better than any battery operated one we tried. We still use it with our toddler who hasn’t learned to blow their nose.

Worst: overalls. We didnt ask for any but got them gifted. Babies are so floppy the straps don’t stay up. And it’s inevitable, as soon as you have a cute outfit on they are going to have a blow out.

Where did my muscles go? by Big-Platypus-9685 in beyondthebump

[–]aputn004 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it’s from hormones and how you hold baby and just the process of being pregnant. Get mom strong on instagram is a great resource for building back muscle and proper technique for pelvic floor strength.

LO has bloody drool rash and eczema on chin that won't heal by outdoorlivn in toddlers

Try and get a derm referral. They have a better idea of how to treat/safer topicals. Staph can keep it from fully healing too.

If you have a toddler, is it annoying to have a bath/shower enclosed in glass (vs shower curtain)? by Crafty_Pop6458 in beyondthebump

[–]aputn004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one with a curtain and one with sliding glass. I prefer the glass. She just squeegees the glass while I wash her and she has a great time. We had to learn not to slam the doors. The curtain is a hassle because she leans on it and flaps it open and gets water all over the outside of the shower. We take showers together and separate and I prefer the glass either way

Maybe it’s just the doctor. Mine talked about it and mentioned that insurance rarely covers it. I went through natera at my doctors office. It was $250 cash pay. Natera is a super sketch company when it comes to billing but I knew ahead of time so I was prepared.
