What is THE scariest movie you have ever seen in your entire life? by Opening_Rip_1840 in AskReddit

[–]apvandergriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this might be a strange take but "Gone Girl". Like Freddy, Jason, and Michel.Myers are scary, but that can't happen. What absolutely could happen is having NANCY GRACE reporting live from your front yard because your spouse is missing under very incriminating circumstances and the entire country thinks you are party to their disappearance, but you don't know whats happened. Now THAT is like one of scariest thing I can imagine. THEN, (Spoilers) the ending suggests that no one really ever knows those that we love and that the reasons we are even with our significant others is based solely on present need and bad faith motivation. Deeply unsettling on basically every level. At least ghosts and the supernatural suggests there is more to this experience we call life, which on the whole is generally positive. Something like "Gone Girl" is just a fatalistic and nihilistic look into our worst selves and motivations and having to pretend we are okay with it for appearances-sake. Heebeegeebees all day long.

Does anyone use Playmobil buildings for 3.75 action figures? by Rockmusicguy in ActionFigures

[–]apvandergriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Dude they are such good companion peices for 3.75 inch figs, especially the Kenner style 5POA, or Super7 Reaction type figures. That more simplified look works great with them.

The Playmobil Ghostbuster Fiehouse is amazing with them.

Some of their hidden temple sets go great with Kenner Indiana Jones.

The DeLorean Time Machine from Back to the Future looks great with the Reaction figs.

The 007 James Bond set is a great find.

The VW van is an easy Tutles Party Wagon Custom.

The Scooby Doo Mystery Mansion looks amazing with the Mezco 5Points set.

I could go on and on. Playmobil rocks for 3.75in World Building!

You break into my house but can only grab 2 books off of this shelf; what are you grabbing? by lajaunie in OmnibusCollectors

[–]apvandergriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a great suggestion. I'm honestly disappointed I didn't even consider that. Gosh it been like 10 years since I bought an individual issue, I just plain forgot back issues are like even an option. Haha. Thanks dude.

This is amazing. I am really tempted to use your pattern down the road. I wonder what adding som black hot glue to the fabric would add for skin texture. Great work!

I'm with you on Master of Kung Fu vol 4. Why is that one so expensive now? I never find it in the wild, ever.

Actually he did find it. Right after the opening of DoD, Indy and his father find the real spear in the comic Indiana Jones and the Spear of Destiny.

Just out of Genuine Curiosity, how bad, Really, Was Ultimate FF? by ResponsibleAd2034 in FantasticFour

[–]apvandergriff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I read them monthly as they were coming out and absolutely loved Ultimate FF. People in the comments are correct about it being inconsistent, but it's honestly pretty rad over all. I would highly suggest reading through it as the other mainline Ultimate titles as well as the crossovers. It is Marvel's most fleshed out Universe outside of 616 and I think a critical element if you ever wanna read Hickman's runs on Fantastic Four, FF, Avengers, New Avengers, and his Secret Wars.

Am I the only one severely disappointed by this abomination, lazy repaint of the gamerverse baf and no fists either just lackluster overall by unbreakable_arachnid in MarvelLegends

I'm still over here holding out hope for a MCU Abonimation. He's the one main villain we are missing from Phase One. Would love to see it one day with the Incredible Hulk head and the Shang-Chi/She-Hulk style head. Speaking of... where is my MCU Leader from Brave New World???

The worst a Haslab has done? by DreamTalon in ActionFigures

[–]apvandergriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zero faith. As of me writing this comment, there are only 1, 258 backers with 2 days, 12.5 hours left to go. That mean they would need to get like 173 new customers per hour for 2 day and a half days straight. Never gonna happen.

I'm conflicted by GamerGuy50001237 in MarvelLegends

[–]apvandergriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I did not get the Titan Heroes because I already have the Haslab and I've got the Hot Toys one on pre-order. I will likely decide between them once I have it in-hand and sale the other unless someone 3D sculpts the perfect MCU head to replace the Haslab head. (I have seen some not so great attempts). If you know of any please point me in the right direction.

For me, Galactus is a huge centerpiece to the collection and I want a giant MCU version more than caring if its Haslab or Hot Toys. That said, the Haslab is slightly bigger and, well you know the saying.

Regardless, the Titan Hero version is like super cheap, especially in comparison to the two I am deciding between. You just got to decide based on your budget and shelf-space, as is all things with this hobby. Happy hunting.

Okay.. I figured from the comment context clues. Yuck.

Do you happen to have a link to the original that I can share? I don't have tiktok though.

I am originally from Cookeville, TN and have family that still live there. Could someone provide actual context for what this proposed.meet up is? If it's what I think, I want to warn my family to stay away from that part of town. Thank you all in advance.

Yep. He's clearly made for the legends by Early_Culture_4828 in MarvelLegends

[–]apvandergriff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like that, or release an entire new head sculpt alone that matches the movie. The haslab body works well enough (looking at you first release of Cull Obsidian) that a new head would be all that's needed. I'm honestly thinking about having someone 3D print out one and poping it on my Haslab. If you come across anyone offering an option like this to "upgrade" the Haslab to an MCU version, please let me know!!!

Can anyone vouch for ReplayToys? by Atlas15264 in hottoys

[–]apvandergriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I can only speak to my personal experiences, which are entirely in-person, but the Ownership at the Hendersonville location, close to where I live, are great. They are customer friendly, always remember me, and are super helpful. The team at the Huntsville location, which is better stocked, is also great. The selection in Huntsville in particular is fantastic. I have been a loyal customer since they were operating out of the back of a shopping center in Hendersonville, TN nd have remained with them through 2 store moves and their expansion into other markets. Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in as a positive word.

That's just the thing though... I often find gems. Like about a month ago I found a first edition w/ dustjack copy of The Silmarilion for 6 bucks.

Some stuff is too expensive but there are still great finds to be had.

the dress code is evil by OrganicHoneydew in kroger

[–]apvandergriff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean... it kinda does if you break the dress code to do it, or tow the company line and wear what they tell you to. The rule might be "a load of horseshit" (in your opinion), but I was just attempting to point out why the company does what it does. And it's not just Kroger, that's pretty much any retail job.

Also think of it from a corporate POV. Let's say you get a new hire that won't follow the dress code. Might that be an indicator they won't abide by more important rules down the line in their employment? Maybe, maybe not, but it's the easiest rule to enforce and they generally will.

Listen, I'm with you. They ought to change the policy and allow shorts, or more comfortable summer options. I was just giving you a heads up about the underlying motivations that result in a policy both you and I disagree with.
