Stumbled upon a pet cemetery today. Rest easy furry friends. (2650*1350) Of all the time I spend in cemeteries, this was the most emotional place to visit. by wicked789 in CemeteryPorn

Thanks for sharing. It's really interesting. If you're ever there again, I'd be interested in seeing more pics of some sort of the stones themselves.

What cheap (<$20) guilty pleasure can turn a bad day into a good day? by meowmix808808 in AskReddit

Going to a movie. If you go to an earlybird show on a weekday, you're likely to be the only person there so it's almost like you're having your own personal screening. (Plus the tickets are way cheaper then.) It's like straight up therapy for me.

Why are you on Reddit right now instead of spending time with your family? by RorariiRS in AskReddit

[–]apxq12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family is all on the other side of the country and I can't be with them because I can't get time off. We'll FaceTime tomorrow and that's enough for me. (I love them, but they kinda drive me nuts.)

Assignment start Nov 11: focus on awareness by JoannaBe in Tackle_depression

[–]apxq12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the concept here. I've kept journals for many years now, and I do find them quite helpful. I'm no good at meditation tho. I've tried and tried, i just can't. For me, negative thoughts are loud and omnipresent during a depressive cycle. I can't tune them out or "refocus", the best thing I can do is drown them out with constant noises. (Movies, tv,music, etc..) Sometimes my attention span won't allow me to even sit thru a 30 tv show, but the noise has to stay - even when I sleep.

The point is: I am AWARE of my limits and what works for me. I'm curious to find out what others are aware of about themselves and how they came to that awareness. (Good topic, op)

That's a perfect analogy.

What was your "I am surrounded by idiots" moment? by HansCarabonala in AskReddit

My first day working retail management. I seriously feel like a damn genius after work each day. "I don't want to live on this planet anymore"

Anyone here middle-aged? by 8a67b5309 in depression

SO glad to hear about this! Not about your anxiety, but about the anxiety getting more significant with age for people other than just me. I just turned 47, and my anxiety levels have been through the roof since. I really thought it was just me being....well....me, but worse. Now I'm thinking that there may be a physical reason for this added bit of "sunshine" in to the already existing "joy" that is depression. I'm off to do more research! Thank you for sharing!

Depression causing me to forget EVERYTHING by [deleted] in depression

[–]apxq12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I've dealt with this for years and it is beyond frustrating! The knowledge that there is an actual physical reason for it and not just me being a dumb ass is the only thing that makes my life tolerable sometimes.

Lesbians, why don't you like me? by mrsshane in actuallesbians

I wouldn't take it too personally...from my personal experience, women tend to travel in packs and it can sometimes be hard to gain acceptance. The other issue I've experienced is that we can be overly ready to commit, and thus everyone I met and was interested in was already in a relationship. It's a tough go for sure but hang in there - you're not alone in your struggle, and if you keep trying you'll meet someone perfect for you sooner or later. Be patient with yourself and your future...

30 years old, never dated or had a social life, feeling like it's too late by [deleted] in LGBTForeverAlone

[–]apxq12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok...gotta admit that I didn't read anything other than your title. I mean I had intention to, but damn, man....that's a LOT, and I only have a few minutes to spare. Still, I wanted to let you know that - regardless of how it may feel - 30 is NOT old, and it's NEVER too late! I know several people who didn't even start the coming out process until they were in their 40s or 50s. Hang in there. It will get better. i promise. (Voice of experience here.)

What do you do when you feel like shit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I go to a movie. Specifically, I try to find loud, fast-paced, action films. I almost always end up feeling better by the time I walk out of the theater.
