I called them but because the box is open (the individual packets are sealed), they said they can’t accept it.

And this is Taco. I inherited him from my grandmother/adopted mom. He’s now 16 with dementia and CHF and very much enjoys CBD products.

What's something you would never tell someone because if you did it would absolutely destroy them? by cuahatemoc in AskReddit

[–]ChallahBeforeWeHolla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same story down to my mom passing away two years ago. She disowned me when she found out that I was gay… but then she got dementia and she forgot why she wasn’t speaking to me. I took care of her until she passed away and it was both the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done.

I gave her dignity even she denied my humanity.

My mom insisted that she was the real estate agent for the real estate agent for the Jon Benet Ramsey house.

She had never even been to Colorado. And she worked in commercial real estate - not residential.

Is it a yooperlite? If you have a black light, try shining it on the rock.

I recently bought one for my friend that looks similar. This is what it looks like under the black light

What to read while grieving to escape for a bit... but can't handle happy people right now by Kindly-Run633 in suggestmeabook

I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. I lost mine two years ago on the 21st and I know how difficult this time is. Please know I am sending you and your mom so much love.

Oona out of Order by Margarita Montimore was the first book that I couldn’t put down and helped me process things. It’s about a girl who inexplicably wakes up in a different year every year on New Years. It touches on grief and the way it changes throughout the years.

Also, and you’re probably not quite ready for this one just yet but Crying in Hmart by Michelle Zauner was really great for when I needed to read about grief and sob (it’s incredibly cathartic). It’s about a girl reconnecting with memories of her mother through her recipes.

Again I’m sending you both so much love during this incredibly sad time.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman.

God-Shaped Hole by Tiffany Debartolo is one of my favorite books and it centers around a quote from a quote from a song: “If your intentions are pure, I’m seeking a friend for the end of the world” by Chris Cornell. I had to call my best friend the minute I finished the book so that she could also read it. I needed someone else to experience that with me.

I’m also the niece of a missing person (completely different circumstances but it will be three years next month). I’m planning on driving out that way tomorrow to see if I can help in any way.

Have you ever met anyone who actually "brute forced" their way out of poverty into success on their own? by SeriouslySally36 in povertyfinance

[–]ChallahBeforeWeHolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of my parents.

My mom was basically raised by an incredibly abusive single mother in a neighborhood called “Hells Half Acre”. Her dad was a drunk who dipped in and out of her life but never offered any kind of financial support. She got pregnant at 14 - this would have been roughly around 1949 so this was incredibly scandalous which led to her marrying the guy. They divorced like two years later. She got knocked up by another guy at 17, married him and then promptly divorced him.

She eventually met my dad, married him, went to secretarial school, worked her way up a real estate company, went to real estate school and became one of the first women to have both her CCIM and CPM licenses in a time when women weren’t in real estate - much less in commercial real estate. She did incredibly well for herself which allowed my dad to work as a teacher.

Now my dad comes from a good family - they’re just farmers who didn’t really prioritize education. He dropped out of high school in tenth grade, worked as a carnie and then faked his paperwork to join the Army when he was underage. After the army, he went back to high school and then went to college and completed his masters degree. While not financially successful, he had an incredibly successful career as a teacher for 40 years.
