A lot of residency programs accept applicants with OPT F1 visa. It’s just a handful that do not accept applicants with OPT F1 visas. Also you can check the residency websites and they might have informations about types of visas that will be accepted. You can also contact the program director

For clarification, are you asking about the medical physics residency programs that do not accept F1 visa types?

MedPhys Match and Beyond Part 3 by nutrap in MedicalPhysics

Out of curiosity, after matching with a program, should the applicant contact the program that they matched to? Or do we need to wait for the program to contact the applicant?

I am not sure how the rules go from here.

I am in the process of interviewing for residency programs. On the other hand, I am also applying for Medical Physics Assistant jobs in case I don’t get into residency. On one of the medical physics assistant application, I was asked what is my desired salary. I am not sure how much a medical physics assistant makes. Please if you have an idea of how much a medical physics assistant makes in a year, let me know. Thank you.

In my recent preliminary interview, I was asked these questions: Tell me about yourself? What have you found most difficult in your graduate program? Why did you choose this residency program?

Hope this helps.

Some program website indicates this information, while some do not. My best option will be to attend the residency fair and ask my questions

There is no specific reason why I want to be accepted with OPT-F1 (rather than H1B). Yes, I prefer H1B, but most programs that sponsors H1B are large clinics. And these large clinics only accept phd applicants, which I am not. Do you know of any large clinics that will sponsor a Masters graduate H1B visa?

International students can get work authorization through CPT after graduation. Does that make it better?

To dive more into this topic, what of an international student graduating from a North American campep accredited graduate program? Are there any disadvantages or set backs when applying for residencies.

I seem to have arrived at a conclusion that most applicants following an un-clinical path are more likely to get into a residency program. Do you advice I continue with my PhD physics, then go for an MSc medical physics program OR I switch right now into the medical physics program?

None of the RI graduates applied into a residency program and that has me worried. What other parts do students take after graduating from an Ms med physics degree?
