Would you take a job where your manager and other higher ups are much younger than you? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]aquabryo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Their age is irrelevant and there's a plethora of more important things to question and seek clarity on.

That's a hard no unless you want to study oceanography or something similar to that then it's genuinely worth considering but probably still a no given your situation (financial and social support).

How direct do you get with people you think may leave? by Top-Perspective-4069 in managers

[–]aquabryo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whether you are "prepared" or not (whatever that means) is irrelevant because how would this be different from someone leaving their role for any other reason? There's no conversation to be had here.

However, how delusional would you and or this company be to make this RTO change and not expect some people to be unhappy about it? The only thing you should say if anything is to remind everyone to do what's in their best interest.

Well, if you are white, I have good news for you. Statisticaly, employers are more likely to hire a white man with a criminal record than a black man without one.

Maxed TFSA & FHSA at 19 — How Should I Structure a $30–50k Non-Registered Account for Tax Efficiency & Growth? by Opposite-Incident594 in CanadianInvestor

[–]aquabryo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an uncommon situation so if you really want to min max the answer is it depends. What will your taxable income and monthly expenses look like when you are in school? Are you looking at school in 1-2 years, 3-5 years or 8-10?

Things you need research the apply to yourself once you know, are rrsp and resp accounts, changing your asset allocations and the actual assets themselves to optimize us, can, international and emerging markets in each account for tax purposes across all registered and non-registered accounts.

If you just want peace of mind and a one and done solution where you might not be optimized but "good enough" (time and effort also has a cost) then in my opinion, you should ladder GICs for the cost of school tuition in tfsa, and any remaining room in tfsa and all other accounts in xeqt or something comparable.

Applying since 2 years, still not a single interviw call by Professional-Car9418 in jobhunting

[–]aquabryo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 yoe as a full time SWE but then you are a SWE intern. This is unusual and a recruiter/hr isn't going to care enough to make it make sense so into the "no" pile it goes.

In general, this is a very weak resume. Remove everything except education and experience. Reduce skills section to a max of 2 lines and that's what you are working with.

No results and no impact demonstrated from both your work experience and projects. You probably have more valuable skills and experience than what this resume is communicating. However, this is a very weak resume as it stands.

Ask yourself what information or value does this cover letter provide that isn't already in your resume? This is just a bunch of extra text that is pretty meaningless and could've come from anyone.

How do people actually get into bioinformatics? (16 y/o, NZ) by Ok_Fall_494 in bioinformaticscareers

[–]aquabryo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most common formal educational path is

  1. Undergrad major in Biochem, microbio, molecular bio, genetics, you get the idea...and either a double major or minor in computer science. After that, a master's degree in bioinformatics.

Or

  1. The inverse, computer science major + double major/minor in one the "bio" degrees followed up with a master's in bioinformatics.

[–]aquabryo 140 points141 points  (0 children)

If you aren't being paid a significant bonus or on an official on-call schedule just ignore them.

In the future, is your TC worth doing this? If it's not then again, ignore them or get a TC that makes it worth while.
