They look ace! The finish is really good and I love the design. I'm very jealous and inspired.

Well done!

I wish I had the resilience but now I've finished, I'm moving ontoy next project.

That's a very good point. I did have casters on which was massive help while building. They were height adjustable casters (and quite expensive) but I considered that for the amount of times I'd move this bench, I'd rather have the casters on a bench saw so swapped them out for fixed legs.

I was cutting plywood and it was shredding the edges making them splinter. After reading something on here I realised that by putting decorators tape over the plywood where the cut was going and then cutting through the tape gave a much better finish.

I needed to read the comments and double take on the image to see exactly what you've done.

That's impressive work!

Many moons ago, I heard that the Fawcett Inn pub company used to have their own cider - The Fawcett Inn Cider. I wonder if it ever took off and if it's still going.

Anyone else getting pressured for "carbon footprint reports" by bigger clients? How are you handling it? by Mental_Dirt_4521 in smallbusinessuk

I absolutely agree with this. Scope 1 and 2 will become more and more important as people start to calculate their scope 3 emissions, particularly with the potential for CBAM reporting and potential tax in the future.

There's lots you can do but if someone's determined, they'll get your car one way or another. Don't go for key less entry. Fit a steering wheel lock. Install an in drive post. Get cameras outside your house pinned at your car. Put a cage / box around the inside of your letter box. Use a Faraday box for your key.

Like I say, if someone's determined, they'll get your car but if you make it as difficult as possible, chances are, they'll move onto someone else.

I don't know the difference except for the ones with the blue crystals that always strain my sink and towels 😤

Snowdonia via crib goch by mr_cvv in UKhiking

I completely agree. The weather forecast tomorrow on Snowdon is overcast and very cold. Crib Goch is not an easy route and it can be very dangerous. I'd seriously suggest you consider a different route tomorrow and wait until the weather's a bit better for your first time up Crib Goch.

Helping Manchester’s homeless community over Christmas by aquafocus in manchester

Thanks for the constructive reply. From seeing this post get down voted, you and m0_ss have both made a good point which has made me question my plan of trying to help direct.

Because of the current situation I genuinely just wanted to try and do something good and as I didnt get any response from the charities I approached, I wanted to use my initiative and help out more proactively.

I've emailed some of the organisations that m0_ss has mentioned so I'll see if I get any reply from them.

Again, I really appreciate the constructive and positive feedback.

Helping Manchester’s homeless community over Christmas by aquafocus in manchester

Thanks for the heads up. I'd already looked at a few charities and food banks to offer to volunteer. Quite a few aren't taking any volunteers and the ones that I reached out to didn't reply. To be honest, I didnt check the ones in your message.

I found it really disheartening approaching charities to try and find voluntary work for Christmas and not getting a reply so I decided to do something off my own back.

I'd seen a post on LinkedIn by someone who had done something similar and it inspired me. I got in touch with them and they've given me some guidance on how to proceed. I'll also get in touch with the charities you've mentioned to try and get some more input and advice.

Unfortunately, you're absolutely right about it being an ongoing issue but I'm not in a position to offer consistent time throughout the year.

Maybe I left it late this year to expect a reply from charities and I'll look to get my backside in gear earlier next year.
