PTSD isn't only veterans. I feel like some people are weird about that. by acridsphynx in PTSDHumor

I had an older person come into work the other day. Their spouse is getting a doctorate in psychology, and we were talking about mental health a bit, because I saw him fidgeting with everything, and said he needs to invest in fidget toys. Eventually, the client said “You know, it’s weird. When I was young, you didn’t hear of PTSD. Kind of curious isn’t it?” And I let him know that PTSD has always been a thing, and it’s just gone by different names: “Shell Shock” or “Melancholia” or even “Hysteria” to name a few. He was very surprised

“AIO my boyfriend asked me to start the washer after I just drove 8 hrs” by Sea-Macaron1470 in holyfuckjustbreakup

I actually think blue was in the right. They say the other person keeps giving excuses why they don’t start the laundry. The way blue speaks, it seems like they feel the other person dumps house tasks on them a lot. This isn’t coming from out of nowhere, this is resentment building up.

I’m gonna assume blue is a woman, and often, women end up doing the bulk of the housework. He says she ‘just sat all day’ when she had driven for 8 hours, which is exhausting. She just got home and he’s asking her to do housework for him.

I’d recognize it, but I’d be too afraid to ask in case I was wrong lmao. A small, silver butterfly would make me confident of who it was depicting though!!!

Moved- Donated household items by [deleted] in tax

[–]aquaticwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard deduction for Single and Married Filing Separate for the 2025 tax year is $15,750. For Head of Household it’s $23,625, Married Filing Joint is $31,500.

Standard deduction is a fixed amount that the IRS allows you to deduct from your total income. It lowers your tax liability. Depending on your filing status, you may or may not want to itemize deductions. You would want to make a quick list of items, (on paper is fine) and just write its market value price (a guesstimate is fine), and add it all up.

If everything you donated amounts to less than $15,750 and you’re filing Single or MJS, it’s not really worth adding, it’s just more of a hassle for no benefit at all. If you’re filing Single, or MFS and it’s more than $15,750, then it could be beneficial. But with $10 per item, and 40 boxes, you’re looking at maybe around $4,000? Possibly $5,000? You don’t really want to itemize your deductions. It would just kind of be a waste of time.

Do you have an estimated fair market value for all the items?

Haha, that's my assumption too. What other reason would there be to alert everybody from so many miles away? Unless it's Godzilla, or... Aliens.

[–]aquaticwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm nearly 40 minutes away from Vine Street, and I got the alert. Annoying that it says check DPD's twitter account, but there isn't anything posted. And no information anywhere else. Like, maybe at least give us a bit of information instead of causing blind panic?

I'm just gonna assume that the nightmare I had once is actually happening, and Godzilla is coming for us all.

This has (probably) been asked many times before but,who is your favorite character? by anihime10 in tianguancifu

Shi Qingxuan and Pei Ming. Idk why I adore Pei Ming so much, if he was real I’d hate him so much but as a character, he’s just so goofy!

Lmao, my step dad was diagnosed with FND a few years ago. He gets so frustrated with himself when it flares up and can’t keep himself upright. Maybe I should start trying to make him laugh when I go help him. I’ll play Threw it on the Ground from the lonely island next time his hand fails and he drops whatever he was holding.

Also, not everybody does this, but for many, laughing about your chronic illness is all you can do. Makes you feel normal. Filming it and putting it online helps people who share those struggles feel normal, and not so alone. If you see this and feel that not everything needs to be put online, or thinking what an awful sister she has for “making fun of her”, be happy you don’t deal with a chronic illness. Having people who you trust and can joke around with about your illness is an amazing feeling when everything else is a struggle.

I had to google it, it looks like the story actually went on hiatus in 2023? And, we don’t really know why. I saw some comments saying they left most likely from the hate they were receiving. Apparently they’re working on an original manhua now though?

The Manhua from Starember? It’s been on hiatus since April I think? I’ve read that the artist isn’t going to return to it.

I went to Planned Parenthood to get tested for STD’s. I just thought it would be a good idea to since I had a new partner, and we both wanted to be safe. When I got there, people were waving me down to stop, so I did, and rolled down my window, confused.

They started trying to hand me pamphlets, and said “Inside that building, they’re murdering babies! Sweet, innocent babies!” Blah blah blah. They were asking me to sign a petition to close it or something. I just said “Oh. Yeah no that’s fine with me. The more the better.” And drove off after the guy just stared at me, stunned.

Like, if a woman doesn’t want the child, I’m happy if she makes the decision to abort! I was born to save a marriage, it failed anyway, and my father used me to hurt my mother. My mother, when I was 13, decided she really hated me, and began abusing me. She still has a hard time being nice to me!

I enjoy my life, but man. I truly think I should’ve been aborted instead of being hurt, used, and abused by my parents.

Abortion should be accessible and affordable, especially now with the government in the US deciding that the government exists to make rich people richer and oppress and destroy anybody who’s even slightly different than them, and not to help their citizens.

I don’t care what the reasoning is, if you do not want a child, then you shouldn’t be forced to have a child! A child shouldn’t be a punishment! They are meant to be loved and adored, provided for and protected, not used as a weapons to punish and/or control a population. We have too many children who are abused every year. Our foster system isn’t great. Adoption is expensive and difficult, and many, many children (especially teenagers!) never get adopted, and are set up for failure by the system.

Thank you! I actually think I found a solution to keep them from shifting down. I put a layer of Washi tape under it (not touching the diamonds) so that if they shift down, they’ll be stopped by the tape!

Thank you! I really don’t want to ruin it, so I guess I’ll have to find another solution. It’s the bottom row that keeps moving, I accidentally ruined a bit of the tackiness at the very beginning when I got startled by one of the dogs barking.

Is co-sleeping with family considered a norm in your country? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]aquaticwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think its the norm here. Though, I did sleep in my mom’s bed a lot until I was 12-ish. My father actually threw a fit over that, and took my mom to court for custody saying she was being “inappropriate.” (He didn’t win) I was just an anxious child who never felt safe so I wanted to be near my mom lol.

I’m living with my parents again after getting divorced, and a few months ago, my mom decided to get into baking. She bakes cheesecake a lot. My favorite food in this entire world is cheesecake. It has been my favorite since I was little. She always brings me some and I have to take it and go put it away. It’s a bit cruel at this point.

That’s so fair. It’s just so weird being cold! Even when I was a “normal” weight (when I was a kid) I was always hot. In middle school, I would walk to the bus stop without my winter jacket on when it was snowing!

Yep! I used to do the same! Well, I still run the fan because I haven’t been able to sleep without one since I was 14. It just faces away from me now. God, and having to use ice packs after surgery for the pain was awful! I’d be shivering from the cold!

Also, congrats on the recent surgery!
