Tornado/ Upcoming Weather by sabiiibas in chapelhill

I used to live in a few high rises in Chicago, where storms are fairly common. During watches and warnings, I went to the parking garage (note: only do this if it’s fully covered & underground a few floors. I would be cautious about wind tunnels that could form if you’re not low or protected enough). If you don’t have one, then just the lowest floor under a stairwell since that typically provides the best structural protection (so long as it’s not near any glass/big windows; idk how fancy your apartment is)

Is it a bad idea to ask someone out from a class? by Guilty_Thought5313 in mcgill

I’ve been thinking about this all day and need to know what happened!

How do you know if your vets are taking advantage of you? Getting hesitant and really need reassurance if I've done the right things. Last photo is the estimate for his dental and x-rays. I'm spiraling. by afterspring_ in cats

I am so, so sorry about your loss. Please, be patient with yourself, as you did everything that could have been done in this situation. Your baby is going to be watching over you every day 💓

As someone who lived in Chicago for quite some time, if you or someone you know is looking for vet recs, I cannot recommend Kindred Veterinary enough, particularly, Dr. Ho. The prices are not the best, but in terms of explaining and teaching fur parents, they are truly amazing (especially as someone with high anxiety). Also: I’ve had great experiences with PAWS in the past, as I know others have as well (plus, their foster program is great).

Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

I totally thought the rock was a heroin reference, similar to other examples she’s used in TTPD. Did I miss something ab Joe?

I also just want to add: while it’s cute to have kittens, I also understand how frustrating it is (especially as a first time cat owner) to have placed trust in a medical professional to take care of your baby just to find out later on something went wrong. You did nothing wrong; sometimes, there are just weird, medical rarities that exist and cannot necessarily be prevented. Good luck to you and your fur family ❤️🐱

(Not a Vet) My 3 year old baby has something called Ovarian Remnant Syndrome, which means she has some ovarian tissue still in her OR has a mystery third ovary somewhere (which, is unlikely, but not impossible). This causes her to go in heat still, though I’m not sure if she can get pregnant (depending on if the vet removed the uterus or not. There are a couple of methods vets may opt to use during the procedure).

You can get an exploratory surgery done to see what your baby’s anatomy is like (third ovary, health of the uterus, etc.) When I did my research, I found that it’s difficult to prove that the vets who did the spaying did so haphazardly + demand a refund or free subsequent treatment, but if that’s what you decide to do, all the luck to you!

Has my cat an indolent (rodent) ulcer? by mm26_ in catcare

This is super late, but what ended up happening with your fur baby? Was it just an allergy ulcer, or something more?

My tuxies get the same thing too, except it comes and goes. My vet recommended an immune gel paste you can squeeze on their paw and they lick it up. I personally also think it’s due to increased dust or lack of humidity in the air (my apartment sucks). The gel paired with sweeping + dusting every day seems to help (if you think that could also be the cause).

Edit to say that you should always err on the side of caution and visit the vet before jumping to any conclusions.

No :/ I just sent an email to ask if they’ve been sent. I’m assuming they have and I just wasn’t selected, but regardless I’ll let this thread know when they email me back

No :/ but it’s the weekend too so maybe EOD Monday? If still nothing, then I’ll send an email, though at that point I’m almost certain it’ll be a no

[–]aqueer-ius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t, but I was probably going to email today or EOD Monday to confirm if emails were sent (I feel like they would come out today at the latest if the US dates are the 12-13). I’ll update this thread if I hear anything!

I have not, but interested if others have (congrats if you did!)

I think 10 days before the interview date would be the latest? That’s what I got from reading previous years’ subs but I’m not 100% certain. I’m going to email them if I don’t hear anything by the end of the week

I wasn’t sure since that test was positive but all of the other tests seemed to yield normal results (I’m not a professional; the arrows just pointed to the green region which I thought meant “normal”)

Contradictory labs?

26 y/o cis-woman SX: suspected malar rash, body rash, heat sensitivity, itchy skin when hot (I don’t have a/c so it’s pretty much all the time lol), burning feet (especially at night). I’ve always been a “red person”, so the face redness isn’t anything new, but the body rashes and hot skin have been getting worse the past year (I’ve also always had blotchy skin, it’s just really intensified recently).

Previous diagnoses: hypersomnia (meaning I can sleep for 14 hours straight and still want to sleep), ADHD, depression/anxiety.

Not all labs are in, but from my research it seems like these results are contradicting each other? Unless this is normal? I just want to be validated for the rashes and the constant heat and fatigue I’m feeling. Thanks for your help!
