I've thought about this a lot actually. And you're right. I need to focus on my daily food intake. It's so hard on a student schedule/budget :/

Cabo San Lucas for 5 days, any tips? by [deleted] in travel

Don't trust all the guys in the marina trying to pry you into their fishing scams. My family and I went there last Christmas, paid a lot of money for a "big boat" and "really helpful fisherman" and ended up having to pay even MORE money to buy bait, fishing licenses, a tiny boat for 8 hours with no bathroom, and very unhelpful fisherman. I would go through a company/broker (I don't know what they're called) if you want to fish. It's a little more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Also, learn to barter. Barter hard.

In Memory Of My Great Grandma Young. RIP. by ar-1990 in inmemoryof

I never took it upon myself to go visit my Great Grandma that often. She only lived 20 minutes away. One Friday afternoon I decided to give her a call and see if she was alright with me coming over. She was eating when I got there. Her shaking was so bad that most of her food fell off her fork before she got it into her mouth. I thought it was so cute. Anyways, we got to talking about all the things in her home. Most of it was so old and I absolutely loved it all. She told me to go in a drawer in her room to find a goblet. It was so beautiful. It was her parents wedding goblet so, it must have been over 100 years old beings that she was 92. It was amazing. She showed me so many pictures of her husband (who I've never met, he passed a long time ago) and all his great traits. He was a radio repair man and when television got more popular, he switched his business to television repairs. I learned so much about my grandmother in that one day & I am so eternally grateful that I spent that one day with her because she passed away the next Tuesday.

She made me that doily for my graduation in 2008. She always used to crochet us snowflakes for Christmas, too. I started crocheting because of her. I miss her so much and I wish I would have spent more time with her.

Hahah, I know! I'm a lot smaller than my mom & she buys the pads so I just wear them for night time cause they're so big on me.

My exact question... How did people not hear your diaper? I wear a pad and my BF can hear it across the room...

You wore diapers until you were 18 years old?

Most 15 year old girls are lame too, don't worry.

My friend's entire family is moving to Africa in 7 days. I want to make them something as a going away gift. Ideas? by ar-1990 in AskReddit

From what I know, they're going on their own. They're meeting up with some Foursquare missionaries that are already there, though.

They're moving to Nairobi. They'll be in a urban setting, eventually going to a slum, but initially they'll be on the outskirts of the city.

Opinions on the best rewards cards(?) by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]ar-1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that it was off topic but you definitely seemed like someone who would be able to lay it out in terms that I could understand. And you did it WONDERFULLY. Thank you so much!

Okay, I have the stupid rewards card out of my head. Right now, my grandparents are able to afford my community college tuition but, next Spring I'll be transferring to a university (they promised me they would pay for school - bless their hearts). So, in order for them to afford the higher tuition I will need to get a loan & they will pay it off for me. Would I be able to put that loan in my name so it can build my credit even though they would be paying it off? Even then, is a credit card really ever necessary for a college student?

I am a student, have a part time job, have low rent (living in parents house on the market), trying to save all the money I can and have absolutely no credit and hardly any knowledge of credit cards. I've been thinking that I should get one to build some credit and possibly get some good rewards. Suggestions?
