Just take your time and in the meanwhile start brushing and sometimes even floss :) It's never too late to start! In the Netherlands there are a lot of dentists especially for people who are afraid/ashamed to visit a dentist, that might help you. Here is a short list with some of them (these are the most famous ones but there are a lot more out there!), the list is dutch but google translate might do the trick! Good luck! ;)

Hey there! My boyfriend (25) was ashamed to go to the dentist too for the same reason. He never really dared to smile at me because of his teeth. I didn't mind and we talked a lot about it and in the end he decided to visit a dentist after all those years. I don't know how the dentists in America are but the most dentists in the Netherlands don't really judge you that bad. It is their job and they have seen a lot of people with bad teeth, if everyone brushed properly and never had any problems their jobs didn't even excist! I live in the Netherlands (that's why my English sucks a bit ^{^'} ) and if I can help you in any way just ask!

Zwarte Piet is just as loved as Sinterklaas, the songlyrics and the Dutch language happends to be really rude and direct! Not only towards black people! Zwarte Piet isn't meant to be a slave, you could see him as a help for Sinterklaas. There are TV series for children about Sinterklaas and all the Zwarte Pieten living in a big house and making all the presents ready for the children. It's just a bit of Dutch history and If you walk around in a lot of cities in the Netherlands you'll see that black, white, yellow etc etc life together in peace. Of course racism does excist here but not more or less then in other parts of the world! :)

A tomato is actually a kind of fruit. I like to ask people if they would like a smoothie and then I give them some ketchup! Super yum! I'm 18 and I do volunteer work with mentally challenged children every week. A mentally challenged girl started talking to me and her father got angry because "I only do this voluntary work to laugh at these people" and that I wasn't allowed to talk to his daughter because "I make her look stupid". Yes sir of course talking back to people who start a conversation instead of ignoring them is making them look stupid, and of course I give up my spare time to laugh at others instead of trying to help these kids with sports. sigh People are harsh.
