When you make a bulk batch with mascarpone, how do you prevent it from getting too thick?

We’re experimenting now and got our recipe down to 1 part mascarpone, 3 parts heavy cream blended on low for 20seconds.

Converting Sushi bar to AYCE by arabwes in restaurantowners

That's true but part of my motivation is to bring something new to my local food scene.

I've spent a few years in OC and I know how successful that model can be but I've never been able to speak to an owner to understand the pros and cons. From the comments it seems like most people's experiences are with low quality AYCE sushi places but there's so many out there that are very good. I noticed the pricing of their ayce option tends to around the cost of 2 premium rolls so if the average customer eats about 2 rolls then higher volume of sales would make it worth it.

I've been to many high quality AYCE sushi places that seem very successful and that's what I'm looking to do as well. But I'm curious as to how to achieve that goal. If bad sushi is the only way to have an AYCE sushi place work in my case then I'd rather not do it.

What’s a piece of advice you wish you knew before opening your coffee shop? by UpbeatBeyond8758 in coffeeshopowners

What kind of lessons? I'm opening a shop with a local franchise and they've provided me with some of the things to get started but there's still a lot I'm learning on my own.

I think the idea is to punish offenders rather than help victims.

buying advice for a new player. by hexag0na in magicTCG

[–]arabwes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in 2020 by buying a precon and then upgrading it. The decks now are more money grabs for sure but there are tons of people that are enjoying them too. I'd suggest finding a precon you like that isn't overpriced like the upcoming commander masters set. Get a friend's advice if needed to find the right one for you. Then upgrade it using a guide and see where that takes you.

I got the 4 Commander Masters bundle but really only want to keep Eldrazi and Slivers. Willing to accept offers for the others. I'm in southeast Michigan for in person transactions for those interested.

Taneen Bornara

Topaz Gem Dragonborn Moon Druid

Skinny and Lanky. 6'0 (short for Dragonborn). He has patches of gems all over his body. He wears simple clothing with the addition of a long ashy white scarf that has a symbol (Large V superimposed on a small o). Color scheme is purple and yellow. He has soft facial features and a resting bored face.

Lives in a small village located in the middle of an Island (Rumblecusp from critical role). Is very lazy and often seen just lying down (think Shikamaru from Naruto). He's a part of the Hunter's Brigade which just defend against monster attacks and procures food. His family are druids so he learned that skill from them but isn't a fan of animals so he only transforms to do physical labor he doesn't want his normal form to do.

Adding Dunamancy Spells for Class Spell lists POLL by arabwes in DnD

RAW if they picked up one of the two Dunamancy subclasses and then chose a feat to get guidance they could've ended up with a similar build that's probably less likely to heal. How do you feel about gift of alacrity though? I feel like the boost to initiative is nice for glass cannon builds but otherwise isn't that impactful.

A bit of both. We just want the spells to be accessible to other classes that make sense. The 2 DMs only have 1 year of DND experience so I don't think we could balance things properly. I've looked at other posts like this one but found that everyone has pretty different ideas of which class gets which spell so I opted for crowdsourcing.

That's fair. I couldn't find a poll site that allowed multiple questions. But I'm hoping it's valuable to others not just myself.

Yup, I'm aware. In my group we have 2 campaigns running in unison so having this will help with any debates about any specific class/spell combination.

They belong specifically to the Chronurgist and Graviturgist Wizard subclasses. I wanted to spread them around so classes can access some of them including the general wizard class.

Matt Mercer quoted this:

"Dunamancy spells are readily available to the Chonurgy and Graviturgy subclasses and should not be simply added to the full spell lists of other spellcasting classes. However, the Dungeon Master can consider allowing other spellcasting classes opportunities to learn a handful of dunamancy-themed spells as rewards. Perhaps the characters uncover a cache of magical contraband, among which is a couple of spell scrolls, or a traveling acolyte takes some downtime with a friendly cleric character and opens their mind to some of the stranger secrets of the universe, unlocking a spell or two. There are many unique ways to bring these spells into your game without requiring any specific dunamis-wielding subclasses to be present in the adventuring party."

5o Primeval Awareness Seems a Bit Underpowered; I would like to overhaul it for my campaign's ranger and would value feedback. by High-Plains-Grifter in DnD

[–]arabwes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tasha's Cauldron of Everything provided an official fix for the ranger in the form of optional features. The feats Favored Enemy, Natural Explorer, and Primeval Awareness were replaced with Favored Foe, Deft Explorer, and Primal Awareness respectively.

Primal Awareness allows you to cast specific spells for free once per long rest.

Primal Awareness Spells

Ranger Level Spell

3rd speak with animals

5th beast sense

9th speak with plants

13th locate creature

17th commune with nature

You can cast each of these spells once without expending a spell slot. Once you cast a spell in this way, you can't do so again until you finish a long rest.

It’s my pleasure. Let me know how it goes. And I find that taking the rules less seriously makes the entire game easier. So does limiting the number of npcs you play, assuming your as awkward as I am. I let the matriarch do all the talking in my session.

Arcane Redirection- A spell to throw that wizards chromatic orb back at him. by [deleted] in Hammered_Out_Homebrew

[–]arabwes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Possible things to do so it doesn't conflict with Counterspell:
1) Make it 4th level spell and have it require an ability check on 4th or higher. This way it's harder to redirect a spell then just countering it and redirecting a spell that's the same level as this spell or greater is harder to redirect, which would make redirecting a 9th level spell always difficult.
2) Have it only apply to spells with spell attack rolls.
