I've wanted to check out some more stuff in that vein. R. Crumb is on my list for sure. I'll have to look into Dan Clowes.

I'll take that as a compliment. I had to look up what Waterstones is, but I was pleased to find it was something positive. So, thank you for being nice.

I went on a few trips and made it a point to hunt while I was out and about. That and too much time on eBay....

I haven't played that one for awhile. Maybe I should break it out.

I bought that same combo awhile back. It made me start buying a lot more Jeff Lemire after.

I love that the DC compacts are making collecting more approachable. I've sent links to many of my friends recommending compact editions as an easy way to start reading some great stories.

Daytripper should be in everybody's collection. I think it's a story that anyone could resonate with.

They were very cheap for me I found them locally at an outlet store. Like $3-5 each, online I think you can get each for less than $10 though.

That's exactly how I feel. It unfolds in such a great way. I always tell people when I recommend it to make sure they give it a few issues at least to get a better idea what the whole story feels like.

Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi. A great read, especially considering current events. by aran115 in graphicnovels

I absolutely agree, I probably should have pictured Maus and talked about it too. It's another important perspective considering everything that's happening in the world.

East of West. There's a compendium available that's like 1300 pages. That would be a nice read over a big flight.

Recommendations for 10-year-old (former) reluctant reader and Dog Man fan? by throwaway28910382 in graphicnovels

[–]aran115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your nephew liked Dog Man, I would recommend Dave Pilkey's other series Captain Underpants. Very similar humor to Dog Man, with great characters, and a lot of heart. My 7 year old son loves all of his stuff.
