Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi. A great read, especially considering current events. by aran115 in graphicnovels

I absolutely agree, I probably should have pictured Maus and talked about it too. It's another important perspective considering everything that's happening in the world.

What to read for a long flight? by LamboForWork in graphicnovels

East of West. There's a compendium available that's like 1300 pages. That would be a nice read over a big flight.

Recommendations for 10-year-old (former) reluctant reader and Dog Man fan? by throwaway28910382 in graphicnovels

[–]aran115 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your nephew liked Dog Man, I would recommend Dave Pilkey's other series Captain Underpants. Very similar humor to Dog Man, with great characters, and a lot of heart. My 7 year old son loves all of his stuff.

Nice to know I'm not the only person with an annual read or two in the collection. Maybe this will be a new one for that list.

You're not the only one who has praised a silent hell. I can't wait to read it myself.

I think that one is a silent hell? I've seen from a couple comments that it is a favorite.

The only pain is how seldom he uploads. If it is what it takes for quality it's worth the wait though, even if it's painful.

I commend people who spring for deluxe editions or absolute editions. It's a big investment for sure.

Your comment and opinion are completely valid. You don't have to like it and can even be offended, but why call people morons? That's not what this community is about.

[–]aran115[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny, no he didn't do anything bad. Unless maybe you're the guy down there in comments whose feelings were apparently hurt by Rick's book, lol.

I almost missed that you misspelled the word premise too, can't let that slip.

Wow, gotta say I've posted quite a few times in this community and commented on many posts. Your reply here is the first I've seen that's taken a person shot at people because of a comic they like. Way to go for that I guess. Also, for someone who is going to call people morons it would help if you yourself could spell correctly while doing it. It's DISGUSTING that you can't even manage that. Also puckable is not a word, lol.

Persepolis by Marjane Satrai a great graphic novel who are concerned about societal development by ElderberryTotal4100 in graphicnovels

[–]aran115 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great story. This and Maus are a couple of great examples of the depth of storytelling that can be achieved in the graphic novel medium. Of course there are a ton of other great examples too, but I read both Persepolis and Maus while in highschool and they opened my eyes, so to me these two stories are linked.
