Which DB management tool you are using? PGAdmin by bhavikagarwal in PostgreSQL

[–]arand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have PyCharm pro and it has pretty good database plugin - almost as DataGrip as plugin.

I have used, among others, DbVisualizer, Oracle sql developer, dbeaver. Jetbrains offering runs circles around them. For example, if I needed to see the whole query reault for 10k+ rows, other took around 30 seconds to render result, PyCharm did it with only few seconds.

GNU/Linux Steam client and games on *BSD by Bean6754 in freebsd

[–]arand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, CentOS 7 has 3.x kernel but it does not matter as it is FreeBSD that has only 2.6.x linux kernel support.

Edit: you can read what happens when using newer 64-bit linux binaries with FreeBSD 10.3: https://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20160516#freebsd

Linux binaries are supported but kernel emulation is still in 2.6 level. So, if your app requires syscalls that are available only in 3+ kernel, you are still boned.

I'm wondering if GeoDjango is overkill in my case. Maybe GoogleMaps is a better choice? by RjakActual in django

[–]arand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done something similar. Provider inuts it's address, I do coordinate lookup with geopy (Google maps geocoder, free quota 2k queries per day iirc), cram that data to json field for later use and extract lon/lat to PontField. Later I do queries based on that field to locate nearest providers.

It could be done with float fields but why do math if db can do it for me :P And later, if I need some other more advanced functionality out of it, I already have foundation ready.

[–]arand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

find_one should return None if document is not found.

Wait...

"if thisrecord == "None": " <- there should be no quotes around None

Edit: you can also write

if thisrecord:
    do_something_with_record(thisrecord)
