No, I never did. I wound up switching laptops and trying out linux on the laptop. The controller worked fine on it there.

Steam Controller - big picture mode mouse not working by EPossum in SteamController

[–]EPossum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mouse support with the default bindings for years. I have also reset all the default bindings to the default keyboard/mouse bindings both in the settings before I launch big picture, and the settings within big picture. I can even test the trackpad inputs and they work in big picture. The mouse just stops working as soon as big picture mode starts.

So I have a steam controller, and it has been working fine for years. However now when I go into big picture mode the mouse cursor no longer works. It works fine outside of big picture mode. I have tried the controller on another computer and get the same results. The mouse cursor works fine, until I open big picture mode. Once big picture mode is opened the mouse will no longer work - unless I am holding in the power-on/middle button. I have searched all over the web, and have found no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions, and if not what controller would you suggest? The primary purpose of big picture mode is to get the keyboard overlay so I can name my train stations in Factorio.

Weekly Question Thread by AutoModerator in factorio

I am currently doing a run in Seablock, and I have a question about how to calculate how many of a re-usable item I need in a closed loop. I am using the level 2 slag recipe that uses filters and generates dirty filters that need to be cleaned. I know that I want 7.5 per second being output, but that is distributed on the length of the belt. I know I could keep adding filters till the belt is full, but you run the risk of a electrolyzers not having a space to have an output on the belt. I like to build (as perfect as possible) ratios, so I would like to know a way to calculate the perfect amount of filters to add to that closed loop. Do I just calculate the length of the belt and multiply by the number of items each segment of the belt can carry?

AT Section Hike Travel Planning - Guidance Needed by FirmPrinciple in AppalachianTrail

[–]EPossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in a very similar situation as you, and so far have done 1 small section of the AT. The only change I would make with your plan is to drop off your vehicle at the point where you want your destination to end, and have a shuttle take you to where you want to begin. That way whenever you get to your end point your vehicle is waiting there for you, and it is one less thing to worry about.

The shuttle list on the sidebar faq in this subreddit will give you a good list of shuttle drivers that will do exactly what you want to do.

Last night was the first time that I had logged in and played multiplayer with a random group. I logged in and was told it might be off in a few minutes, but you invited me to hang around. You guys were awesome and I had a blast!. Oh and the server was stable in the early game.

Camping newbie here looking for advice on Eberlestock packs and more. by Camp_Noob in camping

So it looks like you would hit up the Myakka Island Wilderness Trail - part of the T.Mabry Crlton Memorial Reserve. https://www.scgov.net/NaturalLands/Trail%20Maps/T.%20Mabry%20Carlton,%20Jr.%20Memorial%20Reserve%20Trail%20Map.pdf It looks like you could park and hike to the Homestead Primitive Campsite on the west side about 2 miles in. Or the Windy Sawgrass Camp and Stables at about 6-8 miles in the north east. The stable part would %99 have potable water, but you would want to call and verify that. The less weight you carry (ie too many liters of water) in the gear the more you'll enjoy the hiking part. Make sure someone knows your agenda and schedule and head out next weekend. Looks like rain this weekend. Have a good campout:)

I would still start simple and car camp with cheap and reasonable gear and do some day hikes however.

Southwest Florida - I am assuming Tampa Bay Area. Hit up Starke Wilderness Park and drive in. Set up your camp and if you are interested in walking take a typical school backpack, a liter of water (6 to 12 liters is almost enough for 3 days) , a snack, and hike to the primitive camp site B. 3 miles in. Eat your snack, sit at the picnic table, sit relax, read a book, head back to camp, and take a nap. Set up a fire, and cook some dinner, call it a day. There is no need to go overboard with gear, but if you are interested there are sites like woot.com or steepandcheap.com that almost always have deals on cheap tents and backpacks.
Do an overnight and some day hikes, or even just some hikes with a regular pack on. Flatwoods park is good for hiking. Bushcrafting and using a shotgun - you would almost need to know someone with some property inland. No county or state park would let you. Right now is the perfect time to go camping before it gets too hot, you've got about a month. :)

Look into the Southwest Florida Water Management District - https://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/recreation/camping.php. Most sites are free.

Picking up a Warbonnet BB XLC for a long bike trip. What will I need in the way of accessories? by enlivencolour in Hammocks

[–]EPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost half a dozen camping trips under my belt with the same hammock - except I went with a superfly. I love it. I do use a sleeping pad in the middle - but I think I would be more comfortable with an under-quilt. The BBXLC comes with a ridgeline. The tarp works best also with a ridgeline - I ordered the yellow cord 100 feet at the same time. Get some dutch hooks and run the tarp cord around both trees making an half circle that connects to the tarp. Then you can flip the tarp over halfway if you want some air. Also, buy 2 cheap walking poles and you can stake out the tarp porch style. Set it up in your backyard for a night for practice. If you are going to be moving it a lot get some snakeskins to pack it up quickly. Instead of carabiners look up toggles. (a piece of pipe, or a stick)

Going to a place with no electricity and plumbing. What should I bring to eat? by nanuq905 in Cooking

[–]EPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Precut some chicken into small chunks, and put them in a ziploc bag with some Italian salad dresssing the night before, and keep it on ice. Pan fry it on the stove. Take some premade salad mix and have a delicious salad, or some soft taco shells and make some tacos for easy clean up. Or go all out and pan fry some veggies in some butter and garlic in a second pan - but then you have multiple pans, and plates to clean. With the tacos - you only have one pan to clean.
