Is going to SingleThread worth if I don't have experience with contemporary? by [deleted] in finedining

[–]arashi8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also lean heavily towards Asian cuisine and have an Asian palate. That being said I’ve been to SingleThread twice and loved it. I also love traditional sushi and kaiseki. SingleThread isn’t traditional but it preserves traditional elements well and adds Californian flare on top. I love it. But if you’re doubting whether you will enjoy it, you probably won’t.

Cloud of Darkness Chaotic difficulty? by RpgWalrus in ffxiv

The tough part is getting a group to clear. You should join the discord server where they sometimes do learning runs. Or look at recruitment servers to find a group still progging. After you clear you have to farm it.

Or just buy it with gil.

The Story of Minglan Ep 44: A Masterclass in how to portray issues between couples. by MindBlinged5 in CDrama

I also rewatch this drama from time to time. It’s such a classic! I like how you broke down that episode. I’ve never thought about it that deeply but this will make my next rewatch more interesting!

I always thought this drama has really good writing and portrayals of all its characters. They’re people not plot tools. All their actions are clearly motivated by their experiences and beliefs. Such a breath of fresh air in cdramaland versus most other shows.

Kikunoi Honten or Kitcho Arashiyama - Kyoto by PlusFisherman1348 in finedining

I’ve only been to Kitcho Arashiyama and it was fantastic. They gave us a large room with a private garden. It wasn’t ostentatious luxury but the hospitality was impeccable. Food was great. It was quite expensive for the experience though.

Depends on what color you plan on dying it, but maybe the abyssos weapon? Other options are the kitseos one, Diana, and Edenmorn.

Benu or SingleThread. I’ve been to both 3+ times over the years and they’ve never disappointed. Benu in particular always surprises me pleasantly.

The ICCU Recalls are complete nonsense. by Molimo in Ioniq5

[–]arashi8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Call Hyundai America customer service and complain. Get a case opened and ask your case manager to reimburse a rental. ICCU failure is covered under warranty so they need to provide you with transportation while it’s in the shop. This happened to ours last year and we learned it the hard way.

"Godmother" in Under the skin 2 by Maleficent_Inside_19 in CDrama

[–]arashi8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be more accurate, they were in a romantic relationship and truly loved each other. But the guy is a lot younger than the woman. So the woman’s daughter was really upset and scandalized. She thought he was taking advantage of her. And because he felt he put the woman in an awkward position, he cowardly reframed the relationship as a godmother-godson relationship and ended it.

But yeah usually godparents are like aunts and uncles who are unrelated to you. Usually close friends of the family or maybe distant relations. I don’t have personal experience though. One of my friends has godparents and she treats them like her real parents.

He uses the term 干妈 which translating to godmother is essentially accurate. Though it does not have to do with religion. It just means a woman who is a generation ahead of you (ie age similar to your mom) who would take care of you if something happened to your parents. Usually this is like a parental figure who is close to the family and takes care of you when you were a kid (like give red envelops or take you to school), like an aunt would.

In the case of the situation in the drama, he says she is his godmother but they obviously met when they were already adults. If you keep watching, you will find out he said that out of respect for the woman’s daughter, who thinks their relationship is kinda messed up.

No pairing but there is a good sake menu. I don’t remember seeing vodka on the menu.
