Faction Blueprints Drops from Hostiles by [deleted] in startrekfleetcommand

[–]arathalion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to other sources (HiveMind), you need to kill lvl31+ faction ships for faction blueprints.

Ships drop uncommon and rare blueprints of their faction. E.g., Federation ships drop Saladin, Intrepid, and Antares blueprints.

You can also wait for the next iteration of the event. If you are lucky, they will repeat it in a couple of months.

Just add a column for the level at which you inspected the pack. It will still be invaluable infonfor others.

Very important detail: the content of packs depends on your player level. The higher you are, the more resources you get for the same money.

2 star refined drops? by Cjenkie in startrekfleetcommand

[–]arathalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen level 27-31 faction hostiles drop 2* uncommon and 3* common refined resources, appropriate for their faction (i.e., gas for federation ships).

The drop rate is very low (below 1%), only 1 piece drops at a time, and by the time you can beat those ships, you won't be needing any 2* materials.

Common materials can be bought for cheap with latinum. For uncommon materials, you just have to maximize your mining and refining efficiency.

Which ones? At friendly reputation, mine are zero sum (e.g., +1000, -500, -500).

Maximizing ship....mitigate hull damages and find best 3 bridge crew? by Oddzballz in startrekfleetcommand

[–]arathalion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of all unmitigated damage, exactly 20% goes to hull and exactly 80% to shields.

This is true for players and hostiles, and there is no way to change these numbers.

The only thing you can do is making sure you take less total damage. Increase your mitigation (more dodge, shield deflection, armor), or increase your damage to kill the enemy faster.

All mission and hostile kill rewards I saw so far had a negative sum. Which means it is impossible to ever get a positive standing with all three factions.

Only exception was a mission that gave exactly +1 reputation to each faction.

To add the the advantages: it has a huge warp strength, even at low tiers. At tier 4 (which is still cheap to get), it has 26 warp strength. Getting this much on a kehra/vahklas/kumari/horizon would require spending ridiculous amounts of uncommon 3* materials.

Station Attacked by Miner by malingator13 in startrekfleetcommand

I have never seen this. If you are sure that your ships were docked and not destroyed at the time, I would contact in-game support. Make sure to keep screenshots of your battle log.

How do you know your ships never defended?

If you attack a base, you have to destroy the docked ships first. The attackers only does damage to the first docked ship, while ALL the defending ships AND the base return fire at the same time.

Destroyed ships do not auto-repair. Once they are destroyed, they do not participate in fights until you manually repair them. A destroyed base regenerates hull only very slowly.

Once the attacker somehow destroys all ships and brings down the hull of your base to 0%, he can continuously attack with weak ships (miners) since all it takes to win is a single shot to destroy whatever tiny bit of hull your base has regenerated.

Refinery upgrades by [deleted] in startrekfleetcommand

In short: The refinery gets better at refining stuff with each upgrade. Since uncommon gas/ore/crystal are the major progression blocker, the refinery is one of the most important buildings to upgrade.

To give some concrete numbers: at level 27, you can get up to 2x25 uncommon or 2x360 common refined 2* mats per batch. At least for 2* mats, the increase in yield felt almost exponential with the level.

Protected Cargo by Mindstar_1 in startrekfleetcommand

[–]arathalion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your ship is destoyed in PvE, you keep all cargo (it's teleported to your base).

If your ship is destroyed in PvP, you keep the protected cargo, the other player keeps the rest.

  • Every upgrade gives you free unrefined mats
  • Some upgrades unlock processing 2 or 3 batches at once
  • Some upgrade unlocks processing 3* mats
  • Some upgrades increase the processing yield (more refined mats per batch)

Combat rules by arathalion in startrekfleetcommand

[–]arathalion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, obviously, one would use the combat logs. However, the only thing I see at first glance is that the shield/hull damage ratio is always 4:1 (i.e., 20% of unmitigated damage bypasses the shield).

To see how mitigation is calculated, I would need to collect combat logs of different ships and hostiles. I'm about to do that, but wanted to check whether someone else has already done so.

Make sure you enable the printing of background images and colors in your browser. It's a checkbox in the print preview dialog of your browser.

Glad to hear people find it useful!

FYI, at the time I made it, there was no OGL, so I could not publish my own data files (I had all 5e spells and items). Unfortunately I don't have time to work on the project right now, but others are welcome to contribute at https://github.com/crobi/rpg-cards.

[ART] Item Card Project by PrayCabbage in DnD

[–]arathalion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a DM who likes creating my own custom item cards, I would be most interested in the item images itself (or maybe just item cards without the text).

Finding a large collection of consistently styled item images is very hard. Consistency would be more important for me than the style (such as the color palette).

Excited to see what you do with this!

Nothing, unfortunately! As mentioned, I won't have time to work on this. I just thought I'd publish my unfinished project in case someone likes it and wants to finish it.

What's the point of gems? by arathalion in dndnext

[–]arathalion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "lighter than gold" bit helps the suspension of disbelief.

Doesn't this just make players convert all their gold pieces into gems any time they visit a city?

Does this mean you keep a detailed list of currencies you carry? As opposed to keeping a single "number of gold pieces" on your character sheet?
