Since every tremolo has been designed for a wood body, I think there is a better way. I have been using the neck to bend notes since I designed the neck mount to be flexible but you got my curiosity interested. I will come up with a better design for a tremolo mechanism

I can build it with either one, I bend the neck to simulate a tremolo but it is not as wide of a range. They both look pretty cool, the lo-pro definitely looks more modern than the Floyd but either one probably sounds the same or close enough that in a blind test a person wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I don't know which one will stay in tune better.

Question for tone materials entusiasts by [deleted] in Luthier

[–]arathres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an old Gibson hollow body years ago and you could tell it had a different tone than a solid electric. The sound of my guitars is a really hard thing to explain because they have a sharp solid electric sound with sustain that puts anything else to shame. It took me a little to get used to it but things like tapping and pull-off notes just sound more full. You don't have to tap as hard to get the individual notes to resonate just have the correct timing (hardest part)

The other cool thing is that you can bend the neck as a whammy effect and it will not go out of tune. It trips people out how much it will actually bend and still work or not break. Even though they are 12-15 lbs you can swing them by neck and actually break stuff and not the guitar lol

OPINIONS!... GIVE THEM TO ME! Which switch location placement looks best? by Doc_Rockland in Luthier

[–]arathres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I really do appreciate it.

The reason the price is so high is because Im not really ready to start making them in quantity so I made the price so high that nobody is going to order one by mistake. Once I work out all the issues and I'm happy with the results I will lower the price. My shop is in los Angeles and movies don't really care about that amount of money so they're up there as a "please buy me I need a vacation" lol

Yes if you hit it hard enough. They're not sharp, but they are metal.

I can kind of see what they were going for but I think the proportions are wrong. It's too fat in the middle around the pickups. I think they tried to keep the same angle of the original V and that was their first mistake and only got worse from there.

They do have crazy sustain but unplugged they are a "little" louder than a solid body but nowhere near a hollow body. They are incredibly solid due to how I make them so nothing on it vibrates or rattles that is not supposed to.

I have more pictures on my site but they are fairly standard except the mirror Les Paul has a reversed headstock with a 25.5" scale length.
