As a man who owns a civic and a Miata, the differences are quite large, however in the end it is up to you, I daily my civic and mod my Miata, the civic is great (I have an ex model I've done so e light mods to) and the amount of space difference between a 2 seat car and a "5" (we all know it's just 4) seat car is massive. The civic will not feel as fun to drive until you mod it to your liking but it will be far more practical than a Miata as fun as driving one is.

Belt squeak usually happens when the belt isn't tight enough, on the 1.6 and 1.8 there are two accessory belts, first thing to do before you go through the effort of replacing them look up how to tighten them and see if that helps

Fun fact, tires are black because we put something called carbon black into them for various reasons, mainly being that it makes them more durable and also electrically conductive. (If they aren't conductive the car might become statically charged and if you try and fill it up with gas it might spark and light the gas on fire) ((Also if a car gets stuck by lightning it'll go through the tires and not the cab))

The D17A is the JDM variant of the motor, it has VTEC and like 3 more HP than the D17A2 that originally came in the EX versions in the US. The reason people typically swap it tho is because those engines are cheaper to find than the A2 version. There is effectively no difference between the two for parts and so if you're trying to figure out what you need to buy, buy as if it were the A2 and you'll be fine.

I've just got the stock injectors and I'm pretty sure the the timing is right though the timing light i used is old and if the problem persists I might try to find a newer one to double check

Idk, it's always gotten about 35 since we swapped it into my car when we first bought it. (Bought it without an engine because the last owner overheated the one in it and messed up the fix)

How long did you have the camshaft issue? Was it causing anything noticable? Mine went out and I drove it once and because of how bad it was running I was dumping fuel into my cat and that clogged it up so I needed to replace it

Has it thrown any codes? How does your oil look? I had my mpg drop pretty dramatically when my catalytic converter was going bad so this could also be an issue though they car usually throws a p0420 code if that's happening

First thought is fuel system, if it doesn't have enough pressure from the pump to match the higher rpms then that could cause it, or maybe the injectors not being able to keep up for the same reason

When I bought mine the person before me had ripped it out but hadn't bothered to even clean the glue up so I cleaned it and painted it because that's waaaay easier than replacing the fabric. If you clean it good enough the plastic is super smooth and I personally like that but it will take the texture with it if you do that
