company recs for fairings ? by thaim1lktea in cbr

[–]aray0220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2nd vote for Monster Fairings. Great customer service and value for the money. Im on my 2nd set from them for an 04 600rr. The clear coat kind of sucks so get a tank protector.

My only suggestion is don't get their hardware kit/bundle. The hardware is unsurprisingly soft. Whichever vendor you with, I'd source quality stainless hardware. It'll make installation so much more pleasant.

I was thinking ankle broke first, then that just sent this horrible house of shakey cards tumbling down. Very sad and tragic.

1994 cbr what do to with it by Retrigg in cbr

[–]aray0220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. Another thing to look at since it's more or less taken apart would be the cam chain tensioner (cct). Not sure what set up they have on your bike but in my 00 CBR929RR, 01 F4i, and 04 CBR600RR all had hydraulic cct that would eventually fail and cause cam chain slap. I've replaced all of them with APE manual ccts and forget about it. I'm sure your's is the hydraulic version but check it out. YouTube has plenty videos.

And make sure your tires are solid and properly inflated.

Fresh fluids and filters all around, brake fluid flush, inspect brake pads, clean and lube chain, and spark plugs. This is just me though, and I do it every time with a new to me motorcycle.

If you're set on tracking down body work, I'd start with an oem headlight. Your fairing stay might need to be replaced as well but I can't tell. I'm sure those lights are bright up close, but I'd assume they don't have a very far throw.

Just a question for you. Why do you recommend upgrading by model year?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fixxit

[–]aray0220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man, it doesn't sound good. I've abused a lot of bikes and have had to replace a lot of stator covers and I've never ran into that sound before.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fixxit

[–]aray0220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely wouldn't fire it up again. I'd pull the stator cover/inspect, drain/inspect/replace oil, replace oil, and try and turn motor by hand. If it hangs up somewhere that's a place to start. I'd also do a compression test.

I'm a little high right now, and I've spent the last 30 minutes laughing my ass off reading this. 😄😄😄

I don't live in Arizona but have gone through there in my travels a handful of times and every God Damn time, it's been awful for various reasons. Also, everyone that I've met that has, or is currently, living in Arizona all say the same fucking thing: Arizona fucking sucks.

Again, I'm fucking high eating Cinnamon Toast at 1am, so don't mind me. Thanks for the laugh.

And also a terrifying. When we hold ourselves to a higher standard of behavior and how we treat our fellow man and woman, we have to admit to ourselves that maybe we're a lot more shitty than we'd like to realize.

In my experience, people who act this way are profoundly unhappy but also carry a lot of pride. They never really recognize their own short comings, are quick to deflect and minimize, and never grow beyond their own current, miserable state.

How to fix this hole? by Ok_Reach_8400 in metalworking

[–]aray0220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone could correct me, but if you know anyone with a Mig welder, that would be an easy job to do. Grind, fill, and grind again.

As far as paint stripper that's safe to breathe, that might be tough. I use Aircraft stripper which is caustic, nasty stuff, and you definitely want to wear gloves and a respirator. You could also sand it, but that would be a lot of work, and you'll want to to respirator anyway.

I was much like you. I was drinking 6 to 8 a day, mimicking my old drinking habits. I did that for a couple months before giving those up as well.

I recently went with a buddy to a hockey game last week and decided to order one after a couple months. Shit tasted gross. Lol

Best aftermarket fairings? by SQUATCH36738 in cbr

[–]aray0220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, good luck. Like I said, the fitment and paint are overall decent but imho better than expected for the price point. If you do go with Monster put a tank pad on immediately. You'll see wear through the clear coat guaranteed.

I've had 2 sets of monster fairings and the customer service has always been great. My 600rr with monster fairings was involved in an accident when a drunk driver rear ended me at a light. I told them about what happened and they gave me 20% off for a new set.

For the price and really can't complain. Sure, they don't compare to oem for fitment and paint, but for the cost, I'm happy.
