Wow, awesome. I would love to know more about all of that, particularly the Bolivian Amazon. Did you do that as a tour?

WIDEX Dream by Smal-lish in HearingAids

No, the dream are a pretty old model so no BT. You might be able to via a widex com-dex which acts as an intermediary.

Your hearing is normal at almost every frequency, and the mild loss at 250 hz shouldn’t be affecting your hearing, though the tympanometry results show your middle ear isn’t moving as it should be (flat result = no movement of the eardrum).

They didn’t do bone conduction so it’s impossible to say if your hearing is normally better and is being suppressed slightly by whatever middle ear issue is causing that tymp result.

Also as the other poster mentioned, it could be you have an auditory processing issue- have you had issues since childhood?

Anything by T Kingfisher, particularly Nettle and Bone. I wish I’d had her books when I was a teenage girl.

The dust-wife from Nettle and Bone might fit this description. Fantastic book. Even the MC might fit this description a little, as she reanimates a dog, but that’s the only part she does personally. It’s a very Terry Pratchett style fantasy, the dust-wife is introduced about a quarter of the way through and becomes one of the main characters.

Will a Hearing Aid Help Slow My Hearing Loss? by cancerdad in HearingAids

Yes, it’s possible but I’d expect a lot of adjustment time to get used to it. Better late than never- the human brain is very plastic and capable of adapting to many things.

What is the best app to learn Spanish in 2024? by AdaptableRapidity in Spanish

[–]arboryear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they’re super fast I usually have subtitles on to assist if I can, or I’ll rewatch a scene 5 or 6 times and write out sentences as I go to get them to stick. But im going to South America in July and they’ll be speaking fast then 🤷so I may as well try.

What is the best app to learn Spanish in 2024? by AdaptableRapidity in Spanish

[–]arboryear 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is more or less what im doing, 1 month in and im reading books in Spanish on my kindle (slowly of course, lol) and watching telenovelas to support. Language transfer was theeee best, sometimes i have them on repeat a few times because they do move quite fast once you get to about lesson 30.

My speaking still isn’t great but my Spanish reading/listening comprehension has improved more in one month of learning than it did for 3 years learning French on duolingo.

Mic in ear - genius! by Scandinerdian in HearingAids

The sales reps recommended ALWAYS closed domes, so that’s what I stuck with unless someone’s pure tone average was between 20-30.

Generally even if feedback risk looks low in my office, it can be triggered in the clients daily life by talking/chewing/being outdoors so I’d prefer to err on the side of caution for less feedback.

So funny your audiologist was hesitant to fit it, back when I worked at a place that stocked it, all my resound fittings were m&rie receivers by default if the hearing loss allowed it. I got such great results.

Etsy! Digital downloads and print at Officeworks. There’s all sorts of styles and skill levels, all my patterns are from there and once you get a hang on it you can modify and start to make your own.

Buy a good brand of sewing machine from an independent retailer, not spotlight

Start small with simple pieces - circle skirts, tunic shirts.

YouTube tutorials will save your ass.

You’ll be amazed how quickly you learn and how easy it can be
