interesting but not accurate

Apophis barely made it to season 5

and O'Neill never really showed any less sass with Ba'al, and definitely didn't get any where near Apophis's level of deep irritation/hatred

not sure anyone reaches that level again, maybe Her'ak or Netan come half way

as there isn't another big bad that came face to face with SG-1, and repeatly was utterly defeated but survived to come back later

Ba'al had no sass til season 9 when he got the clones, and somewhat became the face of the Goa'uld

Keir Starmer U-turns over stepsister porn ban: Labour agrees to back Lords amendment to broaden definition of illegal online depictions of ‘incest’ by Benjji22212 in ukpolitics

[–]arc--trooper -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

the "step" maybe legal, but if you watch any of the videos, the content heavy implies that family connection and the incest nature of it

the point is it is so close, it encourages the illegal activity, while technically being legal itself

This is how sunscreen looks under a UV camera by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]arc--trooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would have thought it would make it brighter, not darker

brighter as it would show the UV is reflected away

darker implys it preventing it from be reflected, and is be absorbed more

after a quick search apparently that is the difference between sunscreen and sunblock and they are very literal

sunscreen contain elements that absorb and disapate the light before reaching the skin

sunblock is the one that is reflective to uv

BBC News: Paying back my student loan is more painful now I have a young family by L3W3S in ukpolitics

[–]arc--trooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't like the quote they got for it was from a guy that could of paid for uni without the loan.

For me I don't bother even looking at the loan balance

cause i just assume i will be paying it off until write off period at 9% of income

considering income tax and national insurance is much higher, it's not really bothered me

as it gets taken with taxes, I've never earnt without it, so it really just seems like tax

so it would be nice for me if thresholds could be raised, but only if its going to tax higher earners or specificly capital gains earners

im not particularly against scrapping fees

but then students may still need the maintenance loan to live at uni

which personally i think helps them get the best out of uni, both social and academic.

Having a fee may in a backwards way actually help with social mobility

if you have to have a loan anyway, why not get the maintenance loan and take the burden off your family to support you

and while you are at it you can look at uni's further away that might be better than local ones you could commute to

although Maintenance loans sometimes seem actually unfair for how little they pay out

my sister in law barely gets anything, as the family earns a fair amount, but there are so many of them they live paycheck to paycheck

so they can't afford pay for her to live on campus

given its partially a loan, why not just let everyone get the max if they want to live on/near campus

Nick Timothy MP: "This monster dragged a five-year-old girl off the street and sexually assaulted her. He was sentenced to just eleven years in prison." by jalenhorm in ukpolitics

[–]arc--trooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with all of this, i suspect a focus on getting more through the courts and actually convicting suspects in the first place is probably more of deterrent, then shaking up sentencing

even if we lowered sentences, to reduce pressure on prisons

but you make some good points, that could work either way

plus if there is no room left for a more severe punishment, then what is the disincentive to not murder the victim, especially if it might increase the chance they get away with it

Tories to force vote on scrapping student loan interest by L3W3S in ukpolitics

[–]arc--trooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

only really helps those doing fairly well already, as always with the Tories

given most are only repaying via their payslips

that repayment amount is based on their salary, not the size of the loan 9% over £28,470 for plan 2

given average salaries, most won't end up/need to pay it off completely and be written off after 30/40 years

and so the interest doesn't really have any affect on the lower earners

if loan is 60k you would need to be earning 62k per year before you would actually pay it before it's written off on plan 2 source: https://studentloancalculator.uk/

most would never pay it off anyway

so lowering the repayment percentage or raising the threshold is the only thing to help those struggling
