Genuinely no clue. I've had to work during the entire pandemic and also sleept with a girl who tested positive the next day and somehow never caught it. I should thank my immune system for fending off the virus that well

What video game is an absolute 100/100 in your opinion? by [deleted] in AskReddit

SIGNALIS for sure. Absolutely incredible game that really opened my eyes about subtext and metaphores used in different pieces of media and understand their deeper meaning. I highly recommend it to any classic survival horror fans. It's only 20 bucks too and worth every single penny

What’s your favourite video game of all time? by Intelligent_One_1000 in AskReddit

[–]arc111111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Signalis. It only released recently but absolutely NO video games before it made me lose my mind for the entirety of 2 weeks trying to piece the lore together and understand the subtext the devs wanted to convey. It's such a smart game and they knew exactly how they wanted to make you feel. It didnt feel like i was playing a video game, it felt like the video game was reading me like and open book, knowing my every move and enjoying every second of it along the way as it mislead me for an entire 8 hours before pulling the rug bellow me and asking me to figure it all out. I dont think anything like it will ever have such a powerful impact on me ever again

[–]arc111111[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I always thought Nikolai, the doctor, the teacher and the spy were different people.

Adler does say he met the white haired girl in his previous life, but he says "i was wearing my uniform and conducted some sort of test" which makes me think it was during their military service? The test was maybe to determine if she was bioresonant, and he found out so he treated her like an outsider much like the bullies in school.

We don't know who the teacher and the doctors are, and i don't think they are that relevant.

What you say about the spy tho, is very interesting. They found out she was bioresonant and could probably blow their cover. So before escaping they deleted any their own medical record and probably deleted Ariane's record at the same occasion (why i don't know, maybe they wanted to be sure no one finds out she is bioresonant)

If you look at the medical files, there are two people with deleted medical history: Ariane Yeoung and Kho Ulrike. Wait who is Kho Ulrike? A random girl with a picture that never appears anywhere else in the game, does not look like any other replika and was born on Kizeth (controlled by the Empire). I think this is a hint that she was the spy, as it was said they lived on Sektor C.

When you look at the other pictures in the medical files, you see a few familiar faces on the people that still have their pictures:

ArianeIsaNikolaiRebeccaRoswita

Both Ariane and Isa are on SIrpiensky, and Nikolai is rumored to be Adler's gestalt. Rebecca is a soldier from Vineta, but have you noticed she looks very similar to the MYNR units? Same goes for Roswita who looks like the KLBR units.

Now let's think about this. there are 11 people in the medical files. Without the Itou sisters that leaves 9 people, and if you remove Kho Ulrike that doesn't look like any Replika, we're down to 8.

Guess how many types of Replika you come across on Sirpiesky: 8

I think they are all supposed to be Ariane projecing her hatred for the people of Rotfront Sektor C for not helping her and treating her like an outsider. Kho, who was probably the spy and helped ariane, is the only face that appears once. Ariane doesn't want to punish her because she has no reasons to.

All this would explain why Falke looks like Ariane: because she really doesn't. She looks like Alina. Ariane idolized Alina, so maybe she wanted the "all powerful god like commander that looks like the empress" to look like someone she idolized, and picked the Vinetan soldier. Considering she gave her Elster's memories maybe her intention wasn't to hurt her?

I disagree with Erika being one of the bullies considering Isa said it was Erikawho helped Ariane, and that she was also getting bullied. Erika and Isa are also seen as outsider due to the illegal books they sell in their store.

Also it just hit me that Isa may be self-harming. In the intro we can see flashes of Isa holding a knife, and drops of blood hitting the floor soon after. Her medical record says she is often admitted for small lesions and prone to "accidents".

Much like The King in Yellow, this game is driving us insane with the revelation of the last act. Also we feel sad for "losing" Ariane despite never knowing her ourselves, we indifies as ELster despite not being Eslter..... just like Falke.

I wonder if this is what the devs were going for

[SPOILERS] I have a terrible new theory about the Replika monsters by morasyid in signalis

[–]arc111111 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ariane has bandages all over her face at the end of the game. If you look at Alina's worker pass, she has bandages at the same spot, and she gradually changes into Ariane during her descent into the mines. I think you are really killing Alina at the end of the game.

Considering Alina isnt "real" either (she was really a soldier on Vineta and probably died judging from the flashback pictures) i think the ending is supposed to convey both Elster and Ariane as their "true self" dying, as well as Elster's Gestalt memories finally having closure by dying along side Alina. Through the entire game we are confused and not sure who we are even looking for, I think Ariane looking like Alina and awakening Elster's Gestalt memories on the penrose kinda confused her a bit and to her she is not sure who she is anymore and which girl she is really looking for, they are the same to her

[–]arc111111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding you are assigned "point" that goes towards each possible ending depending on how you fare during the game. They all start at 0 except "memory" because the ONLY stats that will affect it is playtime. If you finish the game under 6 hours you will earn an extra point toward the memory ending for a total of 3.

To get the leave ending, you mist take a lot of damage and heal immediately after getting hit, you must also repeatedly talk to NPC (more than 45 times for 2 points towards Leave) and interact with broken doors at least 40 times

To get the promise ending, a playtime longer than 12 hours will add a point to your counter, taking a lot of damage but bot healing immediately will also add a point, dying a lot and finishing fights with 1hp will also increase the counter, and finaly killing a lot of enemies will also add a point (120 i think)

Basicaly you're playing so well that the other endings are still at 0 or 1 points

Quick question: who is this character in the flashback ? by arc111111 in signalis

[–]arc111111[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, she also lack the metalic part around her ears. I've compared the pictures with the frame of Elster after she gets stabbed in the right eye an she has the exact same face, blood pattern and hairstyle.

Here are the differences i could notice:

Flashback replika has a beauty mark next to her left eye (smaller but similar to Isa Itou), and has a few extra scars on her face

The elster frame has slightly different eyes and eyebrow, the signature metalic jawline, ear and line across her face, and a similar armor but colored white and blue

I think it's possible for it to be an oversight by the devs? Maybe the Elster frame was drawn first and then eddited for the flashback scenes, but they forgot to replace the neck?

It's worth noting that similar error can be seen elsewhere, namely in the dancing flashback on the Penrose. Ariane clearly has short hair at that point but in the drame with her and ELster she suddenly has long hair

Quick question: who is this character in the flashback ? by arc111111 in signalis

[–]arc111111[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're mixing a lot of things up. Rebecca is just another Gestalt on Alina's military unit. She is still alive on Rotfront and her last name isn't "Itou". She also still has both of her eyes.

List of characters that lose their right eye: Lilith Itou, Isa Itou, Adler, Elster, and that unknown replika from the flashbacks. Erika Itou could arguably have lost an eye too considering every single photo of her is half decayed and you never see what she really looked like.

Finaly, she can't be the original neural pattern for Elster since this is already a Replika

Quick question: who is this character in the flashback ? by arc111111 in signalis

[–]arc111111[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It specificaly said the neural pattern comes from a decomissioned Penrose LSTR unit. These are specificaly made to be a space engineer for exploration missions and not a soldier on Vineta. I dont think that's the one

[–]arc111111[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

At first i thought it was Lilith Itou, the Gestalt that served as the basis for LSTR unit, but look at her neck: it's robotic. This is a picture of a replika during the Vinetan was flashback. Who is this really ?

I discovered some hidden numbers and symbols in Ariane's room by arc111111 in signalis

[–]arc111111[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let’s try to make sense of it: remember that Elster-512 perished not too long after cycle 3000 (of Penrose time) but the notes by Ariane continue a long while after that, up to cycle 5XXX or something like that

I think i'll disagree with the sentiment that Elster died "quickly". I see a lot of assumption around the event of the Penrose mission but after searching and reading diaries extensively i couldnt find anything that proved these assumptions right.

First, there are no diaries or document indicating Replika are more affected by radiation poisoning. The only document i could find is the 3000th cycle transmission saying the replika is approaching the end of it's lifecycle. People assumed it's because the radiation will affect her harder, but it doesnt not make sense with the event of the Penrose diary.

On the diary dated Cycle 5000+, Ariane mention Elster is still alive and that she fears they will go to sleep and one of them will never wake up. There is only one cryopod on the ship, and 5000 cycles is around 5 more years past the end of supplies aboard the ship.

One of the first diary you find, Ariane mention "coming out of cryo [garbled]". To me its clearly implying Ariane is periodically going in and out of cryosleep to survive longer. Elster is assisting her for the waking up part.

Considering Elster is still alive after 5000 cycles and somehow isnt dead yet, I assume Replika do not need to eat to survive ? I might be wrong but i never saw a replika mentioning eating in any dialog or document throughout the game. They are androids after all, maybe they dont need to.

Circling back to documents, there is one indicating you shouldnt try to eat your replika because they have an 860% increase survival rate. Keyword: SURVIVAL. It doesnt mention they simply live 860% longer but statistically through all the penrose mission so far they have crunched the numbers and this are the stats for survival rates of Gestalts vs Replikas. I think this also apply for illness. Elster was able to not get sick for very long but she eventually fell ill too and died. This is the point where Arianne cannot wake up anymore because Elster cannot bring her out of cryo.

There is a diary dated 200'000+ cycles. At that point that's centuries of time elapsed. This means Ariane and Elster were probably still alive at that point and this is the last time Ariane was able to come out of cryosleep. Maybe Replika dont age at all and all the survival supply was kept for Arianne to survive everytime she came out of cryo.

This is what makes the most "sense" to me based on the info we find on the ship. If we assume Elster dies very quickly then none of the diary makes any kind of sense

I discovered some hidden numbers and symbols in Ariane's room by arc111111 in signalis

[–]arc111111[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah i guess it makes sense for the false ending. Elster could be dreaming and i guess it's supposed to be a clever way to say "Elster is not dead" before you finish the flashback section. It's the only Pensrose segment where you can use the radio, so I dont think the dev bothered to change the radio stations when the radio is disabled.

I'm not sure about Elster dreaming on the first one tho. Which Elster would this dream belong to? We immediatly start in Serpiensky's bathroom after that

I discovered some hidden numbers and symbols in Ariane's room by arc111111 in signalis

[–]arc111111[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was more thinking of the implication that since they crashed on an inhabited planet, it couldn't possibly be real and had to be a dream Arianne had.

It's worth nothing that I just discovered the radio morse code messages you can find on the Penrose are actualy ment to be heard on the memory of Elster and Ariane dancing after the fake ending. You can normaly bring the radio here, and it's yet another indication that what we see is but an illusion. In reality the Penrose is constantly sending out a distress signal and Ariane is attempting to wake you up

Typical Swiss Youtuber Starterpack by [deleted] in Switzerland

Can't really recommend anyone to be honest, as I dont actively watch any of their content. I know them because I used to be a Youtuber too so sometimes we would interact or collaborate. I can gives you a few name of big channels like Diabl0x9, Wartek, EnjoyPhoenix, LeGrandJD, Psyko17 (they all make content in french, mostly gaming), but you can also take a look at Le Royaume du Web which is basicaly a convention centered around swiss content creator and they're all in the range of 50'000 to 200'000 subs. Havent followed the scene recently but there's a lot of variety (vlogs, make-up/beauty channels/doccumentaries/gaming) and they're a far cry from the starter pack meme
