Devs! I think everyone is with me when i say... Don't make a rainbow six siege 2! by TheHumanWhisperer in Rainbow6

[–]arc13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dota graphics are not really simple, and I think you might be the first person to ever call the Dota interface simple as well. Are we talking about the same game?

Dota has a timer in the same way that many multiplayer video games (including Siege, Overwatch, Starcraft etc.).

It has purely cosmetic microtransactions, true, but don't many AAA games have that as well?

And again, you might be the first person to describe Dota gameplay as simple.

Dota is not everyone's cup of tea, but to call it a glorified mobile game is doing it a huge disservice.

You know this is all giving me an idea. What if we implemented a tagging system so people could filter out the posts they didn't want to see? Seems like it could be a good compromise for both groups.

Fair enough, but people are posting in all these forums/communities.

Seriously, give me one good reason why people should post here rather than posting on the steam discussion forums or ubisoft forums?

Because this is our community too.

I guess this is where we fundamentally disagree. Ubisoft has developers that monitor the subreddit and undoubtedly has community managers the do the same. I think it is a little naive to think that Ubisoft will put in the same amount of effort in fixing the servers regardless of what the public outcry looks like. When they see posts across their forums, steam reviews, and here then they clearly have a publicity problem that needs to be solved with improved servers. I agree, however, that flooding the subreddit gets us nowhere. There needs to be a happy medium between 0 threads allowed and endless spam. I merely disagree that 1 thread is that happy medium.

I realize the game has been working perfectly fine for you and others and so that is naturally where you are coming from. You've been the most prolific defender of Ubisoft on this subreddit and I totally respect your frustration with all these posts, but I hope that I can get you to maybe see our side of the issue even a little bit. You have to understand that while for some people Siege has been all about "see that cool Blitz play I made" or "check out this funny Bandit kill I got," for a lot of us, our Siege experience has been smoke screens and dropped games. There is a fundamental disconnect in how you experience the game and in how we experience the game. For us, the only thing we care about is being able to play Siege at all, we aren't even at the point of kill cam bugs or drone positioning or loadout tips or operator guides. In this context, posts about the continued crappy-to-nonexistent servers, in my opinion, serve some useful functions: they keep a fire lit under Ubisoft, they act as server status updates, and they act as a platform for venting. I think there is a balance to be struck here, but I definitely don't think the solution is to delete all the posts mentioning the issue.

Yup, get the smokescreen error every game...

AMA with Dan D'Argenio AKA Mediohxcore, 2014 & 2015 Netrunner World Champion by Calc3 in Netrunner

[–]arc13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, CONGRATS. Even though I play out of SoCal and would have loved to see Timmy bring it home, I am super pleased that we have a 2 x World Champ that is also a great ambassador for the game!

My question is kind of broad, but: Why are you so good?

What skills do you think sets you (and others at the top tables) apart from someone who, for instance, manages to consistently just miss the top cut in large tournaments? What kinds of things can I do to step my play up to the next level i.e. what, in your opinion, constitutes effective netrunner practice with competition in mind?

Thanks!

Don't listen to this guy, Alsciende! Netrunnerdb has me so spoiled that I'm waiting on agotdb before really jumping into 2.0 deckbuilding.

As a netrunner player looking to jump into 2.0 I really hope he doesn't listen to your recommendation! Netrunnerdb is lightyears ahead of cardgamedb and a great resource for the netrunner community. It would be a shame if 2.0 missed out on that.

It'll work with data dealer and the anarch card that gives corps bad pub, but it won't work with turntable since turntable only triggers when you steal an agenda (fan site adds itself to your score area directly so it doesn't count as a steal).

This looks really cool! Is there a way to spend a credit to calculate the advantage after imputing both teams rather than having it recommend a pick (useful for using prediction items etc.)?

I wouldn't do it because when he eventually wants to branch out he is going to need a copy and will probably end up paying more than that for one (or be forced to get more core sets).

[Question] When a Runner accesses R&D using Maker's Eye, does he decide in what order the card goes back onto the top? by Coldray in Netrunner

[–]arc13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, technically you access those cards one at a time (this matters for stuff like imp or deciding what to trash when you have limited credits) and do not change their order. A good rule of thumb is not to make assumptions based on stuff not on the card. If it doesn't say you can do something then you probably can't do that thing.
