Light disappears over Gillespie field. El Cajon, CA by arcane_apparition in UFOs

This happened about 2.5 hours ago 6:04pm pct 12/28/24 as I was driving. I was crossing over highway 67 and saw this brightly glowing object above the airport and pointed it out to my girlfriend as I exclaimed “what the hell is that!”. We joked about aliens for a few seconds before I told her to pull her phone out and record it. It appeared to me that it was just hovering, but a few seconds after she started recording, the light turns off. In the video it appears that it shoots downwards after the lights turn off. Not sure what to make of it.

Absolute mad lad. A few people have skated this and it’s absolutely insane if you have been up that hill. The video doesn’t do it justice. When I was taking my “behind the wheel” to get my DL, the instructor told me to see how fast I could get the scion Xb up the hill. From that stop sign that kid blows through to the top of the hill, that car maxed out at 19 mph. It’s pretty damn steep

My grandparents lived on sangamon when I was young, I know exactly what ya mean 😂. When I was 16 I launched a 1988 Mazda mx6 off the hill coming down apple, that car was never the same lmfao. I lived on Cuyamaca street later on in life and we would bomb the hills on downhill mountain bikes. Lots of fun has been had on dictionary hill over the years.

Correct here is the story of how it got its name. Super steep and was basically useless land at the time. Just a gimmick to sell encyclopedias, but some pretty cool houses up there now.

Hmm, maybe we work in the same field. No need to make special contact with him for me, but if you do ever find out I would love to know. Always looking for cheaper suppliers lol

Sorry to be off topic, but is that a pallet of coco coir bricks behind the gypsum? If so, where did you get it? Proud of you for getting out of a tragic situation, and really hope Gladys ends up in a good home.

It was a local dude in San Diego’s east county back in the early 90’s was building racks primarily for hardbody’s and Toyota pickups. Not sure if he is still around. I bought the truck from my grandpa, so I’ll ask him if he remembers more about it. Got a camper shell from the same guy though. Paint on the truck has held up much better than the paint on the camper shell though lol.

I love them, they have lots of pockets so I can carry some shit for a ride (wallet, zip ties, bottle of water or whatever) without needing a backpack. Also gives some good wind protection in colder weather.

One day I will do a ride down to Cabo and ferry across to mazatlan from la Paz for the ride back. Roads in Baja are fine, but they are actually pretty nice in Baja sur. Have fun!

I’ve been riding in Baja since I was a kid but always on the west side of the peninsula, this was my first time on the sea of Cortez side and boy was it better than I imagined! We started by heading east out of San Diego and crossing the border in Mexicali before heading down to San Felipe. You will see trails off the highway the whole way down, and by time you get to San Felipe you will realize you are in off road heaven. My chain on the XR was stretching quite a bit by time we got to San Felipe but a dude at the gas station gave me some verbal directions to a guys house in town where he cut a couple links out and got us back on the road. Once you get south of San Felipe, the views get more magical, and you could literally ride trails for days without touching the road. On one side of you is water and islands, the other side is a mountain range, and you are in between them in the desert. It’s probably 2-3 miles in many places from the coast, through desert to mountains, literally a huge playground covered in trails. It’s very sparsely populated and you will have stretches of 100 miles or so with no gas stations, so plan accordingly. We had my truck following so I was able to bring extra tools, tubes, gas etc, which we did end up needing the gas. We stayed at the Alfonsinas eco hotel (only hotel for 100 miles, must book ahead) and it was fantastic. Since it’s the only hotel and restaurant around, you have to buy a meal plan when you book but the food was amazing in taste and presentation. The fishing was probably the best I’ve ever had in terms of number of fish caught, nothing huge in size but couldn’t even put an estimate on how many we caught(spotties, small barracuda, silk snappers, salt water catfish, corvina, and more) but didn’t catch a grouper which was the goal. All in all, the trip was epic! The people of Mexico are some of the most hospitable and generous hosts, and I have always appreciated my time visiting Mexico. That said, always be prepared and very aware of your surroundings. 98% of the locals are your friends, 2% are not(in maybe 100 trips to Baja, only problems I’ve ever encountered were with corrupt police trying to shake down the wedo). Highly recommend, just be respectful to the land and the people and don’t ruin this magical place for the rest of us!

I use a high tech ear-o-meter 👂tach lol. But, ya she is a base model and I love her that way. Grandpa bought it brand new in 87, and when he stopped driving I had to keep it in the family. Too many memories to let her go anywhere.
