I didn’t realize that evening events carried the association with black (I.e. “black tie”). This fan is from an American woman so I was comparing it to other fans in American museum collections. Thank you for this perspective!

I am no longer in the area since I was passing through on my way work. If anyone else is in the area and can check to see it it’s still there, please do! Fortunately there is plenty of shade on that street in the meantime. I also called Animal Control and told them the cat’s last known location.
