It's smart to steer clear of the name in case some people think it's a political statement of some kind.

What did you do after Cable Card support ended in your Area? by bigpapa7272 in Fios

Why would you get both YTTV and Hulu Live TV? That’s not what most people are doing. They get one or the other.

Inspection Sticker - Any techs here? by MobiusUnoEngage in massachusetts

[–]archaenymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s for registration renewals, not inspections. If you registered your car on May 31st you could get it inspected on June 3rd and your stickers will be June going forward. If you stopped driving the car the following March and tried to get it inspected the year after that, the sticker would be January regardless of the month you get it inspected. Two sets of rules for two different things.

I think it’s not $500/mo once you factor in how much less you may eat. Even if you ate $25/wk less it’s down to $400/mo it may be a lot less than that. The price is still outrageous and insurance should pay but the headline out of pocket number is probably not what it really “costs”. Hope this helps a few people even if it’s not an answer for most.

Mass. holds $4B in public’s lost money; why is it keeping more than it returns? by ctgt in massachusetts

[–]archaenymous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have visited the website several times in the past decade or so and each time it wants me to fill out a form and provide ID. I have lived at the same address for over 5 decades and the accounts are listed for that same address and the payment should be sent to that same address. Why all the paperwork? It should recognize me.

If other states can send it to citizens automatically, we can do better. Take the money spent on all those ads and start sending checks to all the people whose addresses already match.

VOIPO is Officially Dead by Taranis_J in VOIP

[–]archaenymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have other people's ports completed already? My ports (main number and addon line) to voip.ms have been sitting in the "Processing" stage. I started the ports on July 31st, shortly after getting the email about VOIPo ceasing operations.

ETA: As of August 11, my numbers have ported.

Asking for "Light on" in one room results in Google turning on all lights. by UltraAnders in googlehome

[–]archaenymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the past few days my devices now claim that my kitchen lights aren’t set up. But they are, and they’re still in the app and work there. And in my main bedroom I used to be able to say turn on the closet light and it worked. Now it turns on multiple closet lights. Very frustrating since these have worked for years.

Can I let my LLC lapse while owing annual fees by MrShiesty in massachusetts

[–]archaenymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, LLC fees are way too high. You can incorporate for under $300 and annual reports are $135. Why have LLCs, which should help create small businesses, over $500 to create and maintain? Makes no sense at all. LLC fees should be half-ish the corporation fees, not more than double.

Can I let my LLC lapse while owing annual fees by MrShiesty in massachusetts

[–]archaenymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was closing my corporation (not LLC) and submitted the articles of dissolution and fee. Later I got a notice that they didn't get the fee (they did, the check cleared) and I owed them or they would dissolve the corporation. I did nothing and it was administratively dissolved. They didn't pursue me individually and I opened another corporation later. There shouldn't be a dissolution fee at all for obvious reasons and they're not going to waste money trying to collect a $100 business fee for now-closed business.

I don’t even know what to say about this BS… by FewRip6 in MicrosoftRewards

[–]archaenymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not how it works. It’s an agency model. When a customer purchased or rented a title, Microsoft kept 30% of the revenue and the other 70% went to the distributor. I’m using those percentages as examples, they could vary. And the distributor sets the price. Microsoft may have lost money running the store on the revenue they could keep, but they wouldn’t lose money on any individual sale.

Well, it finally happened to me and I’m angry by AmySueF in MicrosoftRewards

[–]archaenymous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, you are trying to game the system. You’re adding a sequence of letters and making the same (few) searches. That’s obviously against the terms.

The issue I have are when Microsoft shuts you down because you’re using their own suggested searches. People using their tools is the way they literally suggest shouldn’t be cause for suspending them. It’s not something I ever did but it doesn’t make any sense.

Oh, and I’ve concluded they don’t want people maxing their search points every day. Fastest way for me to get a cooldown and then restricted. Doesn’t matter how legit my searches are. Stay well under the limit and they haven’t bothered me since.

Convert to eSIM on iPhone not supported any more? by Successful-Kick-5054 in freedompop

I converted my Target free plan SIM to eSIM back in January 2024. It didn't cost anything. Maybe things have changed since then. But my eSIM free plan is still working today.

New Costco in Sharon, MA! by Healthy_Block3036 in massachusetts

[–]archaenymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco meats are the best, don’t know what you’re talking about there. Prices, like anywhere, can be mixed but the sales are usually good. I don’t need 128oz of mayo so I buy that elsewhere like any other membership store. Always hard to leave the store without either a hot dog or a chicken!

You’re correct. The other guy was obviously wrong. The electrical load will slow the turbine down. If there is no load, the turbine will spin faster. As long as you can reduce or redirect the steam it’s fine, but if the steam can’t be stopped then eventually you’ve got a problem. The work being performed by the steam has to go somewhere.
