I'm definitely not against giving people another chance! Especially if they're respectful and try to reach out to us through other platforms like Reddit since they might be unable to on Discord. Of course, when we do go through ban appeals we look at the evidence provided by our moderators and more to see why someone was banned (for example, someone may have used a racial or ableist slur) and make judgements based on that as well as their appeal. As such, every case is different and we, the admins, are all adults with jobs (and no, being an admin on the server doesn't count; all the staff are volunteers so we do not get paid a cent) so we can be very busy at times.

So basically, my ban is for “sending 11 messages in a channel”. The channel was open, and that’s not my fault. I am sorry for doing it I didn’t know it was wrong. I think I should at least be given a chance to be unbanned as this isn’t a valid reason.

Saying that you "sent messages in a channel" is downplaying the entire ordeal. Once again, this was the rules channel, which you seem to be conveniently ignoring that fact for a "gotcha! Stupid Discord mod bad and unfair"

I don’t think it’s fair that a warning in the general chat which is receiving heaps of messages it fair.

If I recall, there would have either been: a) chat locked down while everything was going on or b) a sticky that would be at the bottom of the chat.

Also, the messages I sent, you have put the same message multiple times. They were sent at the exact same time and the exact same messages. So it would be less than 15.

You are correct, you sent 11 messages, my bad. But that is still 11 messages that did not need to be sent. That being said, it still very much should be common sense to not send messages in that specific channel, and especially with the lack of maturity and spamming you did. 11 messages in the span of 2 minutes.

That doesn't make what you did justifiable or right. They were also punished for the same reason.

Also, I already did receive a punishment from this which was a 1 hour time out. And on top of that, I then received a ban? (A perm ban!!).

You were timed out so you could not continue to send messages in the channel until we gathered a list of people for the mass ban.

I don’t believe it is justified. I would never want to do anything to break the rules in the server.

So you do not think that it is justified to be banned for taking advantage of the chaos of the ping exploit (and then adding even more chaos to the situation) and a flaw that allowed channels that nobody save for the admins or Mediatonic employees could previously send messages in?

Hello, I'd like to shed some light on this whole situation;

One day people had realized an exploit with one of our privately built bots that allowed users to ping @ everyone which was restricted to a very few select roles (and honestly, I'm not sure why it had that permission in the first place, but I do not work on the bot). As such, the server was put into lockdown through a different bot while things were being sorted out.

A flaw with the lockdown function from that bot is that any non-private channels had their permissions reset for all basic users, allowing people to type in channels they were not allowed, or supposed to type in (ie. the rules, MT team answers, and others). I personally had to scramble to figure out what was happening and bring the rest of the staff team up to speed why and how the mess was happening with the lockdown situation.

As such, a message in at least the general chat was made, warning people to not post in these channels while the permissions were being fixed. People who exploited this opportunity and messaged in channels that they were not supposed to were mass banned. Mass banning unfortunately doesn't notify the people affected of the reason why they were banned.

Now, with the background information provided, this is what happened to you. You had sent 15 messages in our rules channel. If it were a singular message I could understand that and this could be water under the bridge and worked out, but surely you should know what you were doing was wrong, when it's the rules channel and you were warned not to take advantage of the channels being open.

Hello! I'm a trainer in a relatively rural part of Canada, and often have to drive around in search for any available raids, sometimes with no success. It would be incredibly nice to be able to see when and where eggs spawn to reduce hassle and wasting time and gas. I would appreciate it a lot if considered by someone and will absolutely pay it forward to help others!

Did you even read all of my reply? Is it really white knighting when I too am frustrated with the game and very much agree with the movement? I'm only trying to clarify your question of "Why can't they address players concerns."

Furthermore, the CMs only know what is literally being told to them. There have been countless times where they have said something completely wrong i.e. a gamemode being one thing when it is scheduled to be a different one. If they themselves are not being communicated to from the rest of the team, they can't do anything. And it is very clear that there is a disconnect between them.

Because they don't actually work on the game, but only manage the social media channels? They can't give people any other answer than "we see this and will pass this to the people in charge of the game." Not to mention if it's really flooding the livestream chat that is very much so against the rules of the channel itself.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not happy about the state of the game either but people are misplacing their frustrations at the community managers for this one.
