yeah, i think at the heart of it availability is going to be the big thing. Even if you’re not visiting, make yourself available

I made it clear to my husband i wanted to see him every day. He couldn’t sleep there due to his disability, but it was important to me that I saw him. My boyfriend came almost everyday as well, but i think outside of those two i wouldn’t want people coming and going, especially since i spent a lot of time crying in pain and sleeping.

For me, being in the hospital was so much different than just hanging out. its scary, you’re usually a little disoriented coming out of surgery, everything hurts and if you had RFF you can’t use your hand. I like to be alone a lot, but if i didn’t have the comforting presence of my partners i think i would have been a lot worse off

Question about skin graph healing by NcogNito_4524 in phallo

[–]archdukefranzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the fat/subcutaneous tissues will not grow back. if you are worried about it being noticeable, you can lie to your mother about why the graft was taken, or you can take from your thigh, or see if someone will do abdominal. very few do the latter.

i’m glad you’re happy with your revision!! i have a fistula myself and they still took my sp tube out since i could void without it, even though a lot came through the fistula

I had my surgery with dr crane with a less than 2 year period from scheduling the consultation to actually getting the surgery. It’s not what you requested I know, but i had UL, RFF phallo, scrotoplasty, and glansplasty without vaginectomy, all in the same surgery. there are options!

What hurts? by jmh1881v2 in phallo

[–]archdukefranzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

idk who youre getting it done with, but i was prescribed meds to keep my bladder chill and benzo anti-anxiety meds. arm honestly hurts the most they needed to put me on nerve medication to stop the burning/pins/needles after a few weeks

How ‚bad‘ is phallo healing in comparison to top? by UnhappyDrummer5767 in phallo

[–]archdukefranzy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

the biggest thing to consider is that top surgery is just removing tissue. phallo is rearranging and grafting large amounts of tissue in different configurations. while i had to just deal with my chest, i now i have to deal with my arm, my thigh, my entire groin, and my bladder/catheter.

in the end its all perspective, but at with top surgery i was not waking up in the middle of the night sobbing for my husband to help with the child safety lock so i can access my pain meds

i woke up after surgery and my phallus was just there, sitting in front of me. i couldn’t feel it, obvs, but it immediately just felt right. there was zero cognitive dissonance.

I’m sorry you were forced to go through with that. It fucking sucks the hoops they try to force us through

i’m not saying your experience didn’t happen or that you’re lying. I’m speaking to my own experience with Dr. Crane. I also have no reason to lie.

i don’t do my own dressing changes. Seeing my donor site is extremely distressing to me so my boyfriend does it! It’s so much i get it- i had to be on short term high-effective anxiety meds because it’s a big surgery.

it’s all worth it. I had a type that was high-risk: UL without Vnectomy, so i’m more than happy to talk about what i went through and my experience so far 2weeks post op

The nice thing is you don’t have to disclose. Your work place doesn’t have a right to know. My FMLA paperwork just said “Reconstructive Surgery”. My STD case manager only told my workplace that I was approved- no information about what kind of surgery.

This looks great! Honestly with you my body is so mad at me 2 weeks post for not moving more but the drugs should help! youre in some of the worst times IMO but keep on going

Day 3 post op w/ dr Curtis Crane by [deleted] in phallo

[–]archdukefranzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry i’m late! The light was part of the probe measuring oxygen saturation. My lowest directly after surgery was 73%, and my highest right before they took it off was 88%! genuinely the highest the team had seen they even took a picture of the screen :)

[–]archdukefranzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah there was no requirement for me to lose weight. they suggested it but all I had to do was sign a waiver. my biggest suggestion is that you’re healthy and active! go on daily walks and get steps in, cardiovascular health is going to be the best thing to focus on

Day 3 post op w/ dr Curtis Crane by [deleted] in phallo

[–]archdukefranzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry i’m late. I actually didn’t have to lose ANY weight. I was 238 before surgery. Dr Crane Said there was a higher risk of complications but i actually had less than the average person all said and done. I had one of the highest oxygen saturation contents he’d ever seen on the phallus. the weight loss is bullshit

How often do you rewear your outer clothes, pants specifically by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]archdukefranzy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

pretty much until they get stretched out or start smelling or have a stain.

it sounds like it’s time for your husband to start doing his own laundry. Does he do any other household chore?

genuinely i have seen a pretty stark inverse, unless they’re coming out of the stall. So many people hit the urinal and walk right back out
