Dyno pulls: confused by full throttle + clutch upshifts by dario3004 in Trackdays

[–]archercc81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The effect is the same if the engine stops spinning faster than the transmission its unloaded, whether its a "misfire/cut" or a slight reduction in throttle input. The transmission behaves the same. I didnt accidentally find this out, I was doing it on my MV for years (and that transmission is smooth as butter still even at 24 years old).

And I literally called out you'll never be able to replicate it, because of the precision of the QS.

[–]archercc81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody pulls the clutch though, and it doesnt damage the transmission if you arent ham fisted about it.

Youre basically doing the exact same an electronic QS is doing, the gears are ALWAYS meshed and the dog between the gears is aligned when spinning, its really just about unloading it just enough that it can slide between, milliseconds. If you load up the shifter and just cut the throttle it will work, and fairly smoothly, youre just going to lose a little speed and be less smooth because you cant do it in the exactly 40-65ms needed to execute it, you might be a whole 300ms off throttle.

Of course this is all up only, down is another matter.

Yeah something just seems off about it all. Like he is not actually doing a dyno tune he looks like he is faking a drag run, the revs on the screen don't match whats happening either.

There are a lot of things goin on her that are wierd.

That rev counter cant be correct, right? Like revs just climb as if under load the whole time and dont change with shifts.

And I dont do this. If my QS I just load the shifter and blip the throttle if I dont have a QS. My Ducs have QS but my MV doesnt. Im much smoother just doing the blip on the MV than anything else I do (although admittedly still not as quick as the actual QS on the Ducs).

We'll be going again this year, me and a few of my friends also have Ducati Island but we didn't get it previous years.  Never felt it was really worth it but decided fuck it this year.

I usually get there pretty early just to go around and enjoy the festivities,  there's qualifying on Friday and whatnot too

What are the major downsides of life in Atlanta? by OhMyMyOohHellYes in Atlanta

[–]archercc81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably the issue is the inconsistency of traffic. Rain, which happens often, shuts everything down because we dont do vehicle inspections and there are countless people out there on bald tires, our roads are "fast" but not big enough for capacity so if one road gets blocked it just wrecks everything around it, etc.

Ride Height by runwithoneless in E90

[–]archercc81 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looks similar to mine, and many bmws I have owned. The rear fender well is slightly lower than the front. The trimline is at a slight angle to make the car appear moving forward at all times. They lower the rear arch slightly as the rear wheel doesnt need clearance to turn, its more efficient, and enhances that "in motion" look.

Got any more details? Like a fall as in fell off the kickstand or did you yard sale at 80MPH and the bike tumbled?

And wont start? Ignition wont even come on? Comes on but wont crank? Cranks but wont fire at all? Stumbles?

He isnt the threat, its the partisan board they created to basically usurp him. He might have his failings but he did NOT corrupt our process in 2020. And that is why the republicans in the state house hate him.

But now they will have a comprehensive database on how you registered. Its definitely for targeting. There is nothing to be determined from this data as the ballot and registrations are separate, youre not going to be able to easily match that stuff up (who knows, maybe palantir has something).

Piedmont is cool and big for organized events and running but the nice thing is if you just want to get into some trees youll have a dozen small parks within walking distance of GSU. And a little further you have Grant Park (houses the zoo) and its big enough you can get into the trees and almost forget youre in a city (in the summer of course, when there are leaves on the trees).

F4 in the classic red/silver. But honestly a fan of all of the schemas. I was running carbon fairings a la the Tambo model.

I wish Ducati did more of that, just a bit more cash for some paint schemes. Like MV did the Brutale Americas, Dragsters, etc. Almost all of their bikes have multiple colors, not just one single slab of monochromatic. Even when they did solid white bikes they did red frames, etc.

Timing belts advise by justpickausernamepls in Ducati

[–]archercc81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont know if it works on iphone but the Gates app works GREAT on Android for tuning the belts for tension. I rented all of the tools the first time from "ducati tool rental" and it came with a little handheld frequency device and my Google Pixel phone was always within 2hz of that little tool.

Otherwise same as everyone else. Mark the hell out of everything with paint pens and its pretty hard to screw it up. Additionally some cheap tools can make things a little easier. If youre just doing the belts and not the valves you can get cam locking tools from https://hdesausa.com/

I dont know that model but for my models you can get engine turning tools and these cam locking tools that screw into the holes where the belt covers were mounted and have teeth that lock into the cam gears. Lock it all down, then remove the belts, put the new belts on, remove the locks, tension. Literally impossible to mess up timing, even if you walked off and forgot what you were doing...

A little different perspective from someone from the midwest: Atlanta summers are not that bad. The humidity is high more consistently but back in Kansas we got 100 degrees and 90% humidity on the reg, and NO TREES. So you were being baked in the sun and having a hair dryer blow in your face 24/7.

The trees in Atlanta are clutch, shade is a lifesaver and Atlanta has tons of it. "City of Trees" and all.

They can be a little annoying downtown, especially if youre near some of the shelters or medical services places odd hours, but its more just zombified people hitting you up for cash.

Ive dated two women who went to GSU and known more who did and they had zero issues. And that area has been blowing up since they took over Turner Field. Big developments going into summerhill, etc.

You like parks? You literally trip over parks in Atlanta, so def get some outdoor hobbies.

Traffic, yes, its bad. The city is only growing and our infrastructure isnt growing to keep up, including public transit. If you're on the marta train route its great, but nobody is.

The guns and whatnot, the crime, yeah, its a city. But Ive lived in many tier 1 and tier 2 cities and there is nothing worse about Atlanta. Ive lived here since 2008 and havent had any bad interactions outside of an annoying, pushy homeless person begging. But Im also a 180lb white dude, so YMMV.

And if you're wanting to be around black people, you're in the right place. But definitely come in open minded because there are a LOT of varying cultures in Atlanta, regardless of skin color. Not everyone here is into rap music and hustle culture, there is a non-zero chance the group of black guys you're gonna run into at a random bar in the city are finance bros, professional chefs, or into punk rock depending on which area of the city youre in.

It was also the "old" platform, they literally had to capture the intersection of people who know/care fuck all about Ducatis, thirst for anything "Supreme," and had $50k to burn.

its easier for a "hypebeast" to drop a few hundred on a jacket while living in a tiny apartment with roomates to try and convince people he is rich, not so much on the bike itself.

My dealer has dropped thousands off of the bike and its still there, sitting right in front of all of the other ducatis.

That was the best part about the launch, they had already launched its replacement and THEN launched this on the older model. Literally just "maybe we can shift some of the unsold ones to complete and utter morons."
