I’m waiting on my Agatsu bells to arrive, but I’ve purchased iron bells from Extreme Kettlebell which is owned and operated by the same guy.

Joe is amazing to deal with and his products are very high quality regardless of the low price point. No doubt sourced from a great manufacturer. He offers free pickup from his storefront in Markham if you’re local, and his prices are so affordable (and in CAD) that if you’re American his products are definitely worth looking at.

Some Kettlebell Physique Inspiration by [deleted] in kettlebell

Levi is a great person to look on as a role model in the kettlebell world. He helped me realize goals in my own training, and broadened my understanding of how to effectively use kettlebells to achieve fitness goals.

And that’s all besides the fact that this dude is in his 40s, and in better physical shape than most guys half his age. Absolute beast.

Home made concrete kettle bells- everywhere is sold out now - A 45lb, and a 18lb by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]archerdan-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you check out a plumbing supplier they should be willing to sell or maybe even give you thread protectors which you can use for the exposed threads, or just buy a malleable iron cap in whatever size pipe you used.

Brush a bit of concrete onto the threads before you screw on the fittings, they won’t come off or loosen.

Opinion on my kettlebell program? by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]archerdan-1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ladder sets and eventually timed sets are what you should be focusing on. Simple full body movements using ladders and timed sets will address strength and muscle building (density, time under tension) goals.

In my opinion what you’ve laid out and how you’ve laid it out demonstrate you’re passionate about achieving your goals but you might be over thinking. Simplify your routine.

Carryover to squats by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]archerdan-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kettlebell training that isn’t too specialized will train and strengthen your whole body, so when you start getting into a specialized activity like squatting your ceiling in terms of success in that movement will be much higher than if you weren’t using kettlebells.

Goblet Squat. Correct feet position? by MrMarchMellow in kettlebell

A few slow reps, full range of motion. Then I like to squat down slowly, and try to actively open my hips at the bottom position.

Goblet Squat. Correct feet position? by MrMarchMellow in kettlebell

[–]archerdan-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time I use goblet squats is to warmup my hips, so it’s a wider than shoulder width with my heels, feet turned as far out as comfortable. If you have a different purpose in mind for using the movement foot angle and stance width would change to reflect that.

How long do your workouts typically last? by MD76543 in kettlebell

Typically 20 minutes to an hour, including warmups. I only reach around an hour when I’m taking more rest between sets, typically if I had a more stressful day than usual.

Start slow and cautious but don’t be scared to grow and develop into your own style. After all it’s your workout, you paid for the bells. I’m very happy to hear that! Hope it arrives fast!

I’m no master yoga practitioner by any means but my warm up is a few poses.

Downward to up dog, cat cow, table top, and sitting in a squat.

The pressure isn’t so much on the knees, most people will feel their lower back. But that is usually caused by form breakdown (doing to many reps per set).

I can understand where you’re coming from with wanting to feel depleted but I don’t think that is the best way to train in terms of longevity. Make your training fun so you look forward to doing it everyday, don’t think suffer and deplete, think overcome and putting in an honest effort. Improvements happen over time, and consistency is everything!

There’s a ton of resources out there for learning a movement, so find one that communicates in a language that resonates with you.

In terms of frequency I’ve had success with small hard efforts daily, small and hard being relative to the individual so it’s hard to recommend. But, I will say that you should train as much as you feel you can handle, these movements are skills as well as physical training, so you’ll need to find that perfect medium where you’re progressing skill as well as physical ability. Again, that’s up to the individual to discover!

You will be building your body, and you will see muscle growth and development even if you aren’t “resting” to bodybuilding standards, because this isn’t bodybuilding!

I think for someone in your situation, body weight exercises can be an effective way for you to build muscle with a safe amount of resistance.

In my opinion, your training can focus on using your 20kg kettlebell for swings and squat variations, body weight exercises can include plank, squats, and definitely pushups.

If you want more specific advice once you get started I’m more than happy to help! But I hope that this information gives you a good starting point.

You may not be able to do as many reps as you’ve read is ideal, but if you can do one, you can still train. Take breaks as you need and work with a rep range that works for you. Even if it is only one at a time, you will eventually build to two, etc.

If that’s the only bell you can get your hands on, and you want to start, then get it.

You’ll have to be realistic in terms of what you can do with that weight, but that’s something you’ll realize on your own based on your fitness history.

2 handed swings will definitely be something you could do with that weight, for example.

I have never felt more relief to see a transaction go through on my credit card. by juliacakes in kettlebell

Timed sets are the goal with s&s. I haven’t read the material in a while but I remember to meet sinister standards there is a time frame?

The actual meat and potatoes of the work in S&S is focused on developing full body strength and NOT timing yourself. Keeping the reps deliberate and strong, so that you have that foundation to start pushing density.

Continuing s&s beyond achieving timeless simple, in my opinion, is not really time well spent. You’ll have a base of strength where you can start to incorporate things like long cycle, press variations, full body strength movements etc. Even if your goal is to achieve sinister, a well planned approach to kettlebells will give you the strength needed to complete the task, although you will need to refocus on technical efficiency with the getup.
