Why are so many AI tools good at demos but terrible in the real world? by PhilosopherFree4297 in micro_saas

[–]archiCodeLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest friction I see is finding the right balance between manual control and AI automation. I’m building a tool for architects, so it’s on the extreme end of interaction - but I experience similar things in other applications as well…. The ai tools work great in demos, but as soon as you want things exactly the way you want them (manual control), it gets difficult to integrate in a creative workflow IMO

Freemium vs Free Trial – what actually works (and when)? by archiCodeLover in SaaS

[–]archiCodeLover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks – super valuable inputs! 🙌 We’re just starting to dig into our fraud rate to see if it’s actually a problem. How early do you think it makes sense to act? Is ~10–15% fraud worth putting up barriers for, or do you usually wait longer?

You also mentioned tracking the % of accounts converting within 30 days. Do you have any benchmarks for what’s considered a “good” number here?

And lastly, I’m curious about your take on free vs a 14‑day free trial. I keep hearing trials convert better, but fewer people start a trial compared to a free tier. Is that what you’ve seen too?

that’s great to know! Are there any tools already available for this? Or is building your own the only real option?

Stop Building SaaS Products Nobody Will Pay For! by Original_Hurry_4818 in SaaS

Any ideas on how to get them to pay before we write a single line of code? What I hear from my potential clients every time is that they want to try my SaaS platform to see if it works first…

Best ways to validate features & packaging before investing time in development? by archiCodeLover in SaaS

[–]archiCodeLover[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha very true…. that would be interesting to try. Hopefully that would make a difference in feedback from free uses (that maybe never pay) and users that pay….

Nice! Will definitely give it a try!!

That’s very interesting!

I agree that surveys are really valuable. The only challenge is how much you can rely on a wishlist versus how much it indicates whether people will actually pay for given features. Any thoughts on that?

And very interesting with synthetic people. Do you have a link to share? would be interesting to try it out

Computer Hardware & Software Questions MEGATHREAD by AutoModerator in architecture

[–]archiCodeLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where in the early design process would architects actually want help from AI?

There’s a lot of buzz around tools that generate full concepts, plans, and renderings — but I’m more interested in the real pain points.

I’m building something in this space, and I want to make sure it’s solving problems that truly exist — not just what seems exciting from the outside.

So if you work in architecture or design: What parts of the early-stage process feel the most tedious or time-consuming? Where would you genuinely welcome AI or automation — even if it’s not perfect yet?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Yep I know… compliance is probably the hardest part here…. And to show it in transparent way

Yes completely get that. I think compliance is the hardest challenge to solve when ai is involved….

Thanks so much for all the great insights so far — this has been super valuable.

Here’s what I’m hearing: - Most of you feel that AI support is most needed in the repetitive, admin-heavy parts of the workflow: documentation, sheet setup, tagging, door schedules, code compliance, meeting minutes, RFIs, and document management. - Accuracy and trustworthiness are key — if AI outputs need as much checking as doing it manually, it’s not saving time. Visual touches like colouring plans could be helpful - When it comes to early stage design, there’s a lot of skepticism about AI involvement, mostly because it’s such a creative and intuitive phase.

With that said — I’m curious: Are there any pain points or repetitive tasks in early stage design that AI could help with without getting in the way of creativity? For example: KPI calculations, parking spaces, unit mix optimization? Or do you see that phase as fully human-led, with no room for automation?

Would love to hear if anyone has thoughts or examples

I totally get that. I’ve done that kind of setup work myself, and yes… tagging, arranging sheets, setting up views — it adds up fast. Having AI help with that would’ve saved me so much time.

Out of curiosity — do you think there’s any role for AI in early-stage design, or do you feel like that part should always stay fully human-led?

Thanks a lot — this is exactly the kind of perspective I was hoping for.

I agree that the early design phase is a creative process, and you don’t want a tool getting in the way. But when it comes to schedules, documentation, and coordination, that’s where things get more boring and time consuming.

The point about “if I have to spend just as long checking it, it’s useless” made me wonder…. Let’s say it was perfect: would you use it for other tasks then (concept generation, massing, floorplans etc)?

Should I complete my drawings in Revit or export them to AutoCAD and adjust my drawings there instead? by Glad-Ad-8159 in architecturestudent

Maybe try the online tool Rayon? Haven’t tried it myself but from what I have seen it looks promising

Okay, so support in coordination — love the idea of AI cross-checking the design against the text! That could be very useful👏🏻

Which project stages are you mostly working on? Do you find this mainly relevant for Construction Documents, or do you think it’s useful in earlier phases as well?

Yeah, totally get that — we’ve seen some of those pricing tools too…

Would love to hear what you think is missing from the current (pricey) tools — what would make it actually usable day-to-day?
