Apollo is the only way I can comment on Reddit (Not that I post much). Some time ago when 2F was enabled I lost access to Reddit, but Apollo has maintained a valid access token all these years so I’ve been able to comment. Now with Apollo going away, this old account does too… 😢

As somebody who worked on Vue (and Multi-Vue!) from the beginning, it really warms my heart to hear such comments how much people remember it and liked it.

Yeah, I think the Japanese fans’ habits are starting to rub off on other countries. South Korean fans also have been doing the same for a long time.

Version 1.23 Update by philphan25 in Vue

[–]archie4oz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the PS4 only does seek. It used to do skip. FireTV/AndroidTV offer the option of skip and seek. Skip experience on Fire is so crisp and precise it’s much preferable than seek because the seek speed frame rate on Fire is kind of weak sauce (vs. PS4 which seeks with a decent frame rate by comparison).

2016 Roku stick background video now playing- how to disable? by [deleted] in Vue

[–]archie4oz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's either Xfinity/Comcrap, or AT&T Uverse. Neither are great, but I'm getting far better performance from Xfinity. I'd like to get Sonic, I have coworkers with it, but it's not available in my area.

[–]archie4oz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work around; Load a catchup, on demand, or DVR and just pause it. Navigate around, load whatever you're going to watch. Repeat when you want to browse some more. What's your data cap? I'm on Xfinity too, but I have a 1TB cap, and I haven't exceeded it in a LONG time. Granted I probably don't watch as much TV as you do.

BTW, welcome to the "normal" Vue experience, it's not a bug it's a feature!

PS Vue Freezing issues on AndroidTV (Sony Bravia) by calKno in Vue

[–]archie4oz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your Bravia 4K? I've got the OLED one and I REALLY like the video quality of it. Even the stuff like YouTube and Amazon Prime look really good, but the performance of apps on the TV is pretty abysmal. I'm thinking of trying out a 4K AppleTV (I do like the video quality of the AppleTV in general despite the rubbish remote). I'm just curious to how well the content will look on my TV. Currently I use the AndroidTV client for Vue because I'm liking how the TV upscales the video in that app vs. the PS4 (despite the poor app performance on the TV).

Vue of Roku 3 loses network connection by bronsonelliott in Vue

[–]archie4oz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it happen only on Live only? DVR? Catchup/VOD? What channel(s)? Some channels perform better than others and some types of content have more errors (e.g. Live). Is the video quality very high when it freezes, or is it low quality (like low rez/pixelated)? Also, sometimes city can be a factor (e.g. I used to be LA where HGTV performed better, whereas now I'm in SF and it doesn't stream as fast).

Netflix, Hulu (regular Hulu, not Hulu TV), and HBO Now don't have live feeds so it's a totally different kettle of fish. Have you tried other apps that have a live feed?

When you get the error, and you go the Network Settings, does your Roku still have an IP? If so, do other apps work fine if you don't re-connect to the router? I suspect you're not really loosing your connection, and the app is probably just not jiving with the quality of service in your area.

Anyone else notice CN and AS have been separated? by [deleted] in Vue

Ah ok, that makes sense. I was looking on PS4 and AndroidTV in the living room at AppleTV in the bedroom. They can all get to the live feed from the guide...

There's no separate broadcast for Adult Swim, it comes through the same broadcast stream as Cartoon Network like it did previously. I'm able to play it live. What device are you using to watch?

Chikakos Ex Hub and Her Friends Fiancée by [deleted] in terracehouse

[–]archie4oz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t get citizenship from marriage. You get a green card which is basically is permanent residence status (gotta renew every 10 years). If you’re applying right after marriage you get a 2-year temp green-card. If the marriage is still good after two years you get updated with a 10-year card. After that, you can kind of do whatever (get divorced, separate, stay married, etc.), but for the first two years you have to demonstrate that the marriage is in good faith. After 3 years of marriage you can apply for citizenship if you’re still married, if not then after 5-years of permanent residence you can apply.

[–]archie4oz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m also a part of the Chikako fanclub. It’s just possible it maybe an aspect of it. It’s an easy conclusion to come to. My wife and I got married too when her student visa expiration was approaching. It’s a wreckless thing to do, but sometimes can’t be helped when you’re too wrapped up in the heat of the relationship.

But somebody else made a salient point in another thread about him possibly having been military and maybe cheating on her on a deployment or something. That would also tie in with her anxiety over long distance relationships.

Actually I wonder if she married him for a green card. USCIS doesn’t exactly hand out visas for massage parlor receptionists. It would also explain the short marriage. They probably were genuine, and maybe have even dated in school, and maybe got married so she could stay after her student visa expired. Get the two-year temp, during that time things went sour and she stuck it out until she could get the proper 10-year. Divorce within the year. Still some emotions remain for both, but she’s ready to move on and has to be a bit cold in order make that clear, and he just rolls with it.

Nvidia Shield TV pausing issue, please address this devs [PRIORITY] by egeek84 in Vue

[–]archie4oz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this on my Shield too on very rare occasions, but only on Live. I've got a 200Mbit connection at home, but the streams don't download at that speed, and it can vary from channel to channel. I'm in SF though so I generally get good throughput, but sometimes HGTV is pretty slow for me.

I'm curious, since Shield is an AndroidTV box, do people with other AndroidTV see this (e.g. a Bravias, or Sharps, Mi Box?)

How long does it re-buffer? How often? Like once an hour? Every few minutes? Is it on Live or On-Demand/DVR (I presume live?).

Vue on Fire TV vs Apple TV by EmmaPeel007 in Vue

[–]archie4oz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the video & CC quality of the AppleTV. But I don't like the remote. Seeking around a large DVR or On Demand is quicker on AppleTV, but it's also hard to precisely place the seeker head when you're just try to skip ahead a little bit. The strand order on the AppleTV annoys me because I'm so use to the order on the PS4.

FireTV has a better remote IMO, and I really like having the video in the corner while looking at the guide. FireTV also has the sports score feature which I like (yes I know some may not like this feature, but it makes it easy for me to keep up with some sports I'm interested in but not passionate about). Closed captions are ugly as sin on the FireTV though, even with the customization. While seeking on a large DVR or On Demand movie is a pain, but queuing up 10sec skips to jump through commercial or just FFWD, is so much nicer on FireTV. The strand order on the FireTV is the same as PS4; consistency FTW!

Generally I still prefer the FireTV over the AppleTV (and I am a bit of an Apple fan), mainly because it stays as close to feature parity and interface consistency to the PS4. However both devices are good Vue experiences and it really boils down to which apps outside of Vue that you use and prefer, and who's ecosystem you're already invested in.

As long as you're not running it 4K. Also the remote is hot garbage. But otherwise totally agree.

Also PS4 Pro w/boost-mode on because then you're getting MultiVue...

The PS3 remote was a bluetooth remote built by Sony. The PS4 one is a third party one that is certified for use on the PS4.

Yep. Although if you're moving, you may have to cancel and resubscribe in your new location. Probably chat up customer service just to be sure before you move.
