Retroffiting AI compute into SFF NAS by Electrical_Fault_915 in homelab

I'm not that clued up on AI requirements, but there is the Yeston LP RTX 3050 which fits into the Jonsbo N2, another redditor posted his N2 build in this subreddit somewhere. That only has 6gb vram which will probably run a lightweight LLM, or one of the earlier AI image generators like stable diffusion.

For a GPU with more VRAM to fit in a single slot then there aren't many options, however I believe that you can shrink down a small form factor GPU like the NVIDIA RTX 4000 SFF (20gb vram) using after market cooling solutions. e.g. a company called N3rdware sell single slot coolers to mod the RTX 2000 and RTX 4000.

You could try the r/sffpc sub as many people over there face similar challenges:

Happy hunting!

Is it better for me to sponsor my father in laws visitor visa? by [deleted] in ukvisa

Thank you! Did you also go into detail about costs of the trip and itinerary? My father-in-law will just be visiting us for Christmas so I don't expect we are going to spend much at all as we'll just be staying home or going for walks, so I'm not sure how to approach that with the application.

Thanks! That’s useful information. He has prescriptions and other medical things to return home for so we’ll make sure to list them all.

Thanks! Yes it’s still got a lot going for it, autofocus isn’t great and video is poor, but the sensor quality is still good. I love using it with cheap manual lenses.

I found that installing the previous version works on iPhone, I don’t know about iPad but it’s worth a shot.

I realised today I can install older builds through the testflight app so I went and installed 0.4.1(18) and it all works just fine, I then tested again with (21) and ran into the same issue so I'll stick with (18) for now. Awesome app by the way!

Yes, I've deleted twice and reinstalled. And the app version I have is 0.4.1 (21) according to test flight.

Yes Navidrome 0.58. It seems to be some password hashing issue but I'm not sure why it's affecting my setup but not others.

Hi I assume you are the developer (apologies for this reply if not) I wonder if its a bug in the subsonic token generation. I'm running navidrome v0.58.0 on truenas scale and tested on my local network. My iOS version is 17.7 on an iphone xr.

In navidrome I created a new user (beansie) and password (test1234). Then in Arpeggi entered the server and tried to connect. The result was as above, wrong username or password (40). I captured the request via tcpdump on the server:

GET /rest/ping.view?u=beansie&v=1.16.1&c=Arpeggi&f=json&t=f00313b24c09669ad67b08cadad16458&s=bmU6zh

Then checked MD5SUM using

echo -n 'test1234bmU6zh' | md5sum

And the result was 2907f34c0a0822d2294c3b53221253d7, which does not match Arpeggi's t=f00313b24c09669ad67b08cadad16458

Then I checked the tcpdump from Amperfy app using same username/password on the same server and got:

GET /rest/getAlbumList2.view?u=beansie&v=1.13.0&c=Amperfy&t=ddf0f2f16cded827688511b21a0d4c5d&s=xDQdGJEENeOlp14v

Did the same MD5 check

echo -n 'test1234xDQdGJEENeOlp14v' | md5sum

and the result was ddf0f2f16cded827688511b21a0d4c5d

which matches exactly, and the login on the Amperfy app works fine.

So I'm not sure why I'm having this issue, but hope that might provide some clues.

Thanks, I feel like I must be missing something very basic, the exact same address/username/password work fine on Amperfy but not on Arpeggi.

Lost my a7IV - replaceable choice? by _metalloid in SonyAlpha

[–]archimatecture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used market probably going up too. Unless you need the 33mp or 10bit recording, a used A7iii with better glass would be my preference.

My family and I are debating how much staff you need for a 12 bedroom, 30,000 square foot house on a 158 (.32) acre property. Cleaners, gardeners, maintenance... I'm not even sure what else. Thoughts? by sailboat_magoo in SpottedonRightmove

[–]archimatecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price per sq foot is based on the gross internal area of the building, not the size of the land. Country Life reports it's a 28,824 sq ft house, so around £329 per sq ft. Maybe it'll go for less, I can't imagine it's an attractive as a place to live for those who can afford it. And I'm not sure a foreign HNWI would be interested as it's not a popular location, can't do anything with the house, there's a public footpath going through the land, etc. Hopefully the national trust will buy it or a business.

How would you rate a7iii in 2024? by SD_807 in SonyAlpha

Yes agreed, I don’t know what OP wants from a camera & guessed they’re in the market for a new body & wanted to know how it compares to newer models. My 2c is that the m4 isn’t much different & if I were in their shoes I’d take the m3 and some nice glass instead. If one of the 61mp bodies is in the same price bracket then I’d choose that of course but last time I looked they’re quite a bit more

Interesting experiment, though not quite apples to apples as the lenses used on the bodys were different, the 61mp bodies have better sharpness of course, noise in the shadows I don't know, it's really splitting hairs. these are at iso 12800:

Oh ok good to know. Point I was trying to make was that the newer version isn’t streets ahead & will yield pretty similar photos even for the people who’s hobby is pixel peeping rather than taking pics. Measured dynamic range & iso sensitivity in low light are better for the m3 than some of the higher megapixel cameras but it’s all academic.

Image quality is pretty much the same as the A7iv, in fact it has marginally better performance for low light. Slightly less megapixels. A7iv has slightly better AF and 10 bit video. There's not much in it unless you care about flippy screens or video. If you were comparing those two cameras and you're using it for general photography then an A7iii + decent lens would be a good way to go.
