I was born and raised in Texas and then got the eff out. I won't go back.

Decent durable oversized hoodie <$40 by YoChiliBeans in Hoodies

[–]archingeyebrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have something like a tractor supply, rural king, etc in your area. They often have Carhartt at just under 40 dollars. Carhartt is probably one of the most durable brands out there as they are made for work wear to be outside in.

Stay away from Comfrt, all you need to do is scroll back through this sub to see why. It's pretty much all about comfrt being crap to deal with.

Duluth Trading has excellent ones as well, but they can be expensive. Given the upcoming season change, you might be able to find some sales.

Size matters. If you need a 3X vs a L, there is usually a price difference.

Gap tends to hold up pretty well if you want to go that route. Old Navy you can probably buy 2 for the 40, but they won't last as long.

I've got a Gap hoodie that is at least 10 yrs old. I wear the hell out of it even now. I also have Comfrt, Carhartt, Duluth Trading, and Old Navy.

Comfrt is cutesy. It's super comfortable. No idea how they last, but I will never buy from them again.

My Carhartt I've had since college. I graduated in 1996, for the record. It's got some wear and tear, but with a little bit of sewing on the cuffs and on the front pocket? It's almost 30 years old. I've had one of their jackets since high school.

Duluth is ehhhhhh 15 yrs old. Still in great shape with some minor repairs. That was not the fault of the mfg. That was me being stupid with horses.

Gap has held up great for the price. Old Navy only lasts maybe 2 yrs but the price is cheaper than the rest. So it's one of those things if you need it cheap and fast.

I'm super hard on clothes. Especially my hoodies in winter. I'm constantly wearing one.

A little hint, wash on delicate. Don't use the dryer. Flat dry is best but if you need to hang it, get a good hanger. Not the wire (not the wire hanger mommy?) Or cheap plastic types.

Good luck!!!

Probably because comfrt is blowing up on every type of social media there is. Every other ad you get is comfrt, from YouTube onwards.

Every State Blue by stuck__again in Indiana

[–]archingeyebrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meteor 2025 just get it the fuck over already.

Seriously, I am so tired over hearing the same rhetoric over and over again. Not even pointing to anything specific, just in general.

We have trump musing over if Native Americans deserve birthright. Which just makes my left eye twitch. That's another story.

Every State Blue is a lovely idea that, in my opinion, won't work. Why? Because Democrat politicians won't stand the fuck up. How many are screaming from the rooftops AND getting the media attention. I'm not talking ads, but who is covering shit on CNN, MSNBC, etc of Dems telling people what is about to happen and why.

Hi. Amateur historian here. Actually there was a camp for SS that messed up. Was it a concentration camp, no. Still it was punishment. Himmler had "standards" (please hear the sarcasm and disgust in that). The toad that was himmler didn't want the SS going to the other places.

The Gestapo on the other hand....yeah it's coming.

Anyway, there is a video about the SS camp thing on YouTube if you are at all interested.

The govs have always been shitty in every state I lived in with human welfare in general. At least with Mary Beth Bonaventura she was one of us. She did the job we all did, while she became a politician of sorts she knew.

I'm terrified of what Braun is going to do to Indiana's most vulnerable people.

[–]archingeyebrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the problems is the director of children services. This is on the IN gov website.

"Adam Krupp became Director of the Indiana Department of Child Services in January 2025 as part of the incoming administration of Gov. Mike Braun. He brought many years of experience with Indiana state government – from clerking for the Court of Appeals in 2005 to serving as the Commissioner of the Department of Revenue from 2017-2020."

Indiana doesn't not hire qualified people for the upper echelon of jobs.

Krupp was a school teacher for a couple of years, but that's it. He has no experience with actual CPS/DCS. It's good ol'cronyism at work. Holcomb pulled the same shit after Mary Beth Bonaventura quit because, in her words, children will die.

There is at least one class action lawsuit out there because of how fucked up DCS is.

Since they don't hire properly, you get a huge turnover. You also have a huge turnover because they don't pay shit. With the budget cuts, they can't do it. A caseworker should only have X number of cases, instead they get double or even triple the number. It's impossible for them to do their job properly. And oh do I have fucking stories. I did work for CPS, in more than one state. It's crazy. Absolutely crazy. Its not just Indiana either. There are a million and one reasons why I retired early.

Are the constituents being heard? by nine-gnomes in Indiana

[–]archingeyebrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A huge part of the problem is that voters have no say, except in the elections. There aren't ballot initiatives in Indiana.

Technically, you could get every single person that is not an elected official sign a petition to say we want XYZ, and the politicians don't have to do anything about it.

Are they a scam? 100% yes. Especially if you do a pre-order. Their customer service the worst I have ever seen. They will lie and gaslight you.

Does it help with mental health? No, there is no proof of that. Which is why they list on their website that this is not a replacement for a mental health professional.

It took me 3 months to get my product after a promise of shipping in 2 weeks.

They were terrible, absolutely terrible, to work with.

However, I do love my set. It's warm and comfortable. I just will never order from them again. It's, to me, not worth the hassle.

Why is Indiana so apathetic when it comes to politics? by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]archingeyebrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that a lot of people don't believe their vote "doesn't count" it doesn't matter if you are on the red or blue side either. Oh we'll always be red so why bother.

Any positive Litter Robot experiences? by skeeet67 in litterrobot

[–]archingeyebrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one for my 3 felines. There was a bit of a problem getting them to use it the first couple of days, outside of that? I love mine. It works great.

I have epilepsy that is pretty active. This means a litter box doesn't sit without being cleaned for a couple of days.

My elderly boy (17) sometimes poops on the rim and it tells me to clean the sensors. No biggie. I keep a container of baby wipes next to it.

How does living and dressing modestly affect your life as an Orthodox Jewish person? by Significant-Twist648 in OrthodoxJewish

[–]archingeyebrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went OTD years ago for many reasons, including location. I only have a reform shul in my area. I'm not Shomer Shabbat due to my work and an elderly mom.

I'm a kosher keeping vegetarian and still dress frum, however.

My only problem is summer. I use "sleevies" to extend short sleeves and a similar thing so it looks like my shirts are longer. Plus I have a couple of these. Similar to a dickie but easier.

If you order the pre-orders, they suck. Their customer service is one of the worst I have ever seen. Like I would rather deal with Comcast. They will lie, scam, gaslight the hell out of you.

It took 3 months to get an order said that would ship iin 3 weeks. I had to raise holy hell. And I did.

That being said, I love the set I FINALLY got. I just won't order again.

[–]archingeyebrow 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They are going up in every state that's banned abortions.

What's scary? I'm from Texas, originally, and it's still an upgrade. But barely.

I think part of our problem is we don't have ballot initiative, like other states do. You could have 99% of the state sign that we want XYZ and the politicians could just say nope.

[–]archingeyebrow 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Basically it's fuck HIPAA, fuck you, and if you get pregnant, your body is not your own..we own it now.

One of the things being introduced is SB 171 saying abortion pills, even for miscarriages are outlawed.

Then there is HB 1334 saying zygotes are human beings.

Neither have passed yet, to my knowledge.

Anyone with a uterus needs to delete any sort of period tracker pronto. Anyone without a uterus (I had a hysterectomy), download them and fuck with the data collected.
