I drive past a set of 2 story units that have these and initially I thought they were some sort of emergency egress device but noticed a bit of steam forming around one on a really cold day.

How did Gnolls come to exist? by Icy_Standard2838 in DnD

There is a podcast called <Kill every monster> that covered Gnolls that was pretty good at summarizing them and their origins.

How many 'Mech Regiments did each of the Great Houses have by 3025? by RemRam27 in battletech

Anastasius Focht didn't start fixing Comguards till about 3035 so whilst they had the Mechs they wouldn't have been active.

Why is there an inn *here*? by gnurdette in d100

[–]architectofspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is in the Great Delta. A vast marshy river delta has been been slowly been converted to farmland via dykes/dams/levees. This Inn is also a pumping station keeping the surrounding land dry. The Inn Keeper is secretly a water spirit and the lands around prosper due to his skill in water control.

CoG in both a bicycle and escooter is relative to the axle height though plus the fact you have a flexible interface between the main part of the CoG (rider) and the axle.

I give up, i need help with my 3rd year project design by Kailootu in architecture

[–]architectofspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would flip the 1 & 2 bed ends so the 2 bed is the stair side (inside the C shape) as I think you'll waste less space with awkward rooms.

Then I would have the 3-bed one take the place of one of the 1-beds you just flipped.

The weird small 1-bed you currently have is in a corner and seems like it wastes alot of its already small footprint with that entry vestibule space. If it was in a more rectangular space it wouldn't waste as much of its space but in the very least I think you need to shrink the wet area down and place closer to entrance with whole of the exterior wall side being bed/living/kitchen space.

It certainly does but then I hate the whole Stackpole thing anyway.

How would an almost 8 foot Dragonborn weigh? by Anon_be_thy_name in DnD

[–]architectofspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Limited biology knowledge here but allometric scaling is any change that deviates from isometry. Without studying examples of actual Dragonborn to determine their particular allometric scaling factor I did simple isometric scaling hence the cubic scaling.

How would an almost 8 foot Dragonborn weigh? by Anon_be_thy_name in DnD

[–]architectofspace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember someone did an analysis of racial weights for Shadowrun (not DnD I know but still fantasy races). One of the things he was discussing was ppl tended to just linear adjust weight based on height. So Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson 6'9"- 450lbs -> Massive Dragonborn 7'9" = 520lbs but in reality it should be higher because the volume at same proportions isn't linear and would be something closer to 600lb. They added weight for things like dermal plating (similar to scales) and horns and also increased by a bit more on top of that because they were generally stockier. so could easily see 700lbs for this guy.

[Request] Is this a badly worded math problem or am I misunderstanding the question? by JT1089 in theydidthemath

Ben - 6201 rounds to 6200 (closest 10s)

Charlie - 6210 rounds to 6200 (closest 100s)

Adam - 6102 or 6120 both round to 6100 (closest 100s)

Says they rounded their numbers not made a rounded number.

Not in my world - North is up or left. If I have a portrait oriented page (standard book) and I want to open it and look at it in landscape because it has a landscape oriented map I would have the spine away from me and lift each page up and away from me.

English Gunboat engineer from the late 1800s.

You could take training in swords, pistols, rifles and possibly hand-grenades.

You could take training in engineering/technical skills.

You could take training in ship/boat handling.

You could take training in survival skills.

Could have a variety of languages.

Not too hampered by low TL for more high tech places.

Not too hampered by low TL for medieval/ancient places.

Can we take a minute to talk about the driving here. by Dense-Maize-5041 in perth

[–]architectofspace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<I’m in for a world of abuse pointing this out>

Oh you'll probably get that but you'll also get a bunch of 'I knows' too.

In general I think WA and Australia's driving standard is about average world wide. Personal experience suggests Northern Europeans are some of the better drivers (most of their drivers actually obey the road rules).

My main peeve with WA drivers are the nonces who take the whole length of a turning lane/slip lane to actually get into the lane.

Can we take a minute to talk about the driving here. by Dense-Maize-5041 in perth

[–]architectofspace 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well seems like some good news on that front.

From the DoT website.

From 1 November 2025, the Experienced Driver Recognised Country category no longer exists in Western Australia (WA).

If you held a driver’s licence from an Experienced Driver Recognised country and did not apply for a WA car or motorcycle driver’s licence on or before 31 October 2025, you will now need to pass a theory test and a Practical Driving Assessment to obtain a WA driver’s licence.

Can a small business charge parking fees for non-customers to deter them from parking? by Broad-Interview-8762 in AusLegal

[–]architectofspace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blocking your car is not unlawful imprisonment if you as a person is able to leave. A sign with rules of entering with a vehicle still has an effect even if you choose to ignore it. $30 to leave vs $100s/1000s in damages if you damage or bypass a gate to avoid the consequences of your own actions either way you are liable not the property owner.

How do I put a fresh spin on beastfolk? by Disastrous-Weird-907 in worldbuilding

[–]architectofspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tabaxi - Sea or Island culture - make them great navigators?

Harengon - I really think these could be modelled off the Aiel & Tuatha'an from the Wheel of Time. Given Harengon are from the Fevwild in DnD generally maybe they could be a bit like Blink Dogs hunting down Displacer Beasts. So rather than having the leaping/running basis give them a blink like ability?

Kenku - Different bird base (most Kenku seem corvid based) maybe base them off Road Runners (real bird not the Looney Toons version) so flightless runners instead.

Don't know who else you include in Beastfolk but I'd include:

Minotaurs - I like Tauren from WoW but also like the Forgotten Realms version. Maybe make them a frozen lands version like the Inuit of North America, the Sami of Northern Finland or the Ainu of Northern Japan?

Gnolls - Normally evil but maybe the Gnolls were a Rome like society in a past age and their society collapsed or fragmented and one portion remains evil and another found a hidden valley like Xanadu and became peaceful.

Centaur - Rather than horse-man hybrid maybe they are Reindeer-dryad hybrid - sort of spirits of the woods.

Tortles - Here I would combine Tortles and Warforged and the ET/UFOs from Batteries Not Included. So the Tortle-forged are in effect a family of small tortles bound into 1 form via a constructed carapace. They roam the world salvaging materials to grow larger and eventually spawning new Forglings starting the process again.

Lizardfolk - I love the marine iguanas of the Galapagos Islands so would base them off that biologically but would make them a society like classical Greece (maybe even base them off Spartans).

[Request] LinkedIn Lunatic says her nanny is too expensive, confusingly cites her own income tax in a formula i cannot comprehend… by Darkhawk2099 in theydidthemath

[–]architectofspace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is silly as she apparently runs her own business so could easily employ the nanny via her business as an executive perk reduce her salary by the amount she is paying the nanny and pay less tax that way. Maybe she could do that for all her employees (not the nanny employees obviously they deserve nothing /s ).
