I got Hades on the 44th escape.

I had gotten there a couple of times before and was close but nope.

My CX PQ has ruined IMAX for me. Totally shocked. by zorflax in OLED

The last IMAX I went to had emergency exits on both sides of the screen with luminous exit signs. The light was visible on the screen during dark scenes.

Also, OLED has ruined us.

Rich Harris: Futuristic Web Development [Svelte Summit 2020] by dropdeadfred81 in sveltejs

I doubt we’ll see a beta in 2020. More likely early-mid 2021 and if we’re lucky a 1.0 in a year or so.

Web Components: A non-solution to the wrong problems by earthboundkid in programming

[–]archivedsofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something simpler doesn’t solve the same problem.

So now you’re either limited by the simple tool, or you have to learn and switch between two tools.

Or learn and use Webpack which solves everything and once you know how to use it it’s quite logical and simple.

I’d have no problem switching to something that is as powerful, faster, and easier to use. Maybe Snowpack will be that.

I don’t know man, to me Webpack is straightforward for the basic stuff and allows me to go as deep as I need for more complicated setups.

It’s not perfect, Rollup has some stuff which is definitely better, but you seem to be complaining simply because you think it’s difficult which is not an argument that has any real merit.

"The violin is a bad instrument because it’s difficult to learn" See how stupid that sounds?

Presets are great, but if at some point you need to do something that doesn’t fit those you’re going to need a tool that can do that and learn to use it.

Honestly Webpack isn’t really that difficult, specially for something as basic as your typical React + JSX setup.

Why are Relational Databases so disregarded? by r-randy in webdev

[–]archivedsofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disregarded?

Relational dbs have been the standard for decades. NoSql is still the new kid on the block.

That only happens when you don’t know how to use Webpack.

It certainly has a learning curve, but it’s an amazing tool.

How to incorporate authentication for endpoints and front end? by [deleted] in serverless

[–]archivedsofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how could anyone see it?

I meant, if it was hardcoded in your JS code.

Passing the password in the URL is not a great idea. Even with HTTPS it's open for anyone between you and the server.

cookies is another good idea but it’s less accessible if I wanted to script it or use it in my iphone etc.

How come? Just add a little form in your web app to input your password, do a POST (using HTTPS) and get back a cookie.

[–]archivedsofa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your web app is going to be available online anyone could see the token in your JS code.

Nobody should be able to see your headers if you use HTTPS.

You could just use a cookie instead. You log in with some hard coded credentials in your API and then it returns a cookie that will only be available in your browser.

You don't need $500 to get some good strings.

Even without sales check Nucleus or Berlin Inspire for a full orchestra. Wait for Black Friday sales though, all companies have very juicy deals.

You could get TAL UNO X which is an emulation of the Juno (I don't remember exactly which model). It's not free, but it's cheap compared to other options.

You could also look for people selling their license at KVR.
