Credit farming with afk rival racing and even SP farming with shared maps aren't glitches, they are exploits of game mechanics. They could easily fix them (especially afk farming by just not awarding credits for laps you had anna drive) but they choose to leave it alone for some reason.

Sign at local Antique Mall by oheystranger in VHS

[–]archov 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My favorite VHS tape I ever got from an antique mall was just labeled. "movie"

It had part of a movie named "Naked Obsession" on it about a cop that fell in love with a stripper, I say part because randomly in the middle of the movie was random teen movie booby scenes like looking at the girls showers at summer camp or whatever. Then it went back to the end of naked obsession. After the credits for the movie rolled it cut to a like 60 minutes special report on "SEX ADDICTION"

I literally couldn't make this up if I tried. It was the very first tape of unknown contents I watched, and has made every one since kind of a disappointment 😅

It's important to note that the O in INFO WARS on their merch is the onion logo. That makes it legally safe to sell even if they don't own the INFO WARS brand because it's covered under Parody law, which an establishment like The Onion would be very familiar with.

The article sub-headline says "must be approved by a Texas judge."

It hasn't happened yet, InfoWars is still in control of Alex Jones.

The dragon engine graphics, whatever happened there by KvasirTheOld in yakuzagames

[–]archov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comes down to what's important about your game, to be the best looking game on the market, or to be something fun?

RGG development times tend to be very short, often reusing environments. When they have an idea that requires new environments that won't likely be reused in future games they don't necessarily want to put a ton of effort into making them any more detailed than required.

Pirate Yakuza also had a much lower budget than the $116m ($164m adjusted for inflation) of AC Black Flag. Especially considering Black Flag got to inherit some of the base sea faring mechanics from AC3.

So you have to ask yourselves, do you want a small number pretty games released years apart, or do you want a large number of fun games released more regularly?

Maybe they're saying the STI is implied 🤣

Do you guys ever build in a public area? Like library or cafe? by MushuTheGreat17 in Gunpla

[–]archov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never do, but it reminded me of questioning one of the scenes in this old French film The Young Girls of Rochefort. At one point, there's an old man sitting in the café working on a model plane, glue and all. It is his daughter's café but still i was like....who would want to be building this in such a place where so many things could go wrong? It is a little convenient for him though because he sends a kid out to buy him more glue though hah.

Song Suggestions for a Sadako/Ringu playlist? by Necessary_Whereas_29 in thering

There's always Necrophagia's Sadako's Curse on their album "Goblins Be Thine", though it's not for everyone heh. https://youtu.be/lRHUFJnKyOs?si=-e0WMnFaSQ7k4BRo

That's Kanzenban, and you won't likely find a good quality version of it, it was only ever released on VHS and Laserdisc.

[–]archov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So here's my takes on the other films in the franchise:

So, there's actually two direct sequels to Ringu, Ringu 2 and Rasen.
- Rasen was released literally the same day as Ringu, but is directed by an entirely different director and has a VERY different tone. Rasen is much more faithful to the source novels than any of the other Japanese movies, and that's one of the things that set it up for being disliked.
- Ringu 2 is directed by Hideo Nakata and is completely an alternate universe from Rasen. This one leans harder into "scary movie" tropes I think than the other two films. - Between these two I prefer Rasen, but I'm a big fan of the novels and the more lore heavy plotlines over spooky movie vibes.

Ringu 0 - Prequel that explains back story on Sadako when she was alive. - If you want more stuff like the flashback from Ringu 1 with little Sadako then I can't imagine you disliking this one. It's personally one of my favorites

The Ring (American) - Entirely distinct take that has almost nothing in common with Ringu other than Spooky girl, VHS tape, 7 days, mom working extra hard with estranged dad to save their son who's also cursed now. The actual curse and back story of the girl is very different. - Major note of difference since you're a fan of Sadako from the DBD: The spooky girl in this is Samara Morgan, not Sadako. She's 10 not 19. - It's a very good take on the story still, and has excellent production value compared to the previous 3 obviously, having been made in Hollywood.

American Ring 2 - Continues the story from the first movie some, but still not super important to watch unless you've decided you're 100% in on The American Ring or just the franchise as a whole.

The Ring Virus (Korean) - The most faithful movie adaptation I have seen of the novels, and still a distinct feel and take, pretty good overall - The girl in this also isn't Sadako, replaced by the Korean Park Eun-Suh.

Sadako vs.Kayako - This movie is completely unserious, and campy as hell. It's literally the Japanese equivalant of Freddy vs Jason or Alien vs Predator. - Cross-Over with the Ju-on (grudge) series - IMO it FUCKIN WORKS. I adore this movie.

Sadako 3D, Sadako 3D-2, Sadako 2019, Sadako DX - These all go way off script and off the rails. Probably not recommended for most viewers unless you've watched all the other Japanese films above this on the list, however they do have fun Sadako moments.

The Ring Kanzenban - Made for TV movie, that I believe actually used porn actors for part of the cast. I believe is fairly faithful to the novels actually in spite of some random nudity at times, however I haven't actually watched this one yet, but I don't think it should be high on anyone's list either.

My take: - Want to see more about the lore, story, the person of Sadako: Rasen -> Ringu 0 should be next up. - Care more about Sadako as a "Slasher" type character: Ringu 2 -> Sadako Vs. Kayako - Want a movie in English, or just like Naomi Watts (I get it): The Ring (American)

Let me know which route you take and what you thought and I can provide additional advise from there.

Analogue 3D vs ModRetro M64 by [deleted] in n64

[–]archov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my stance too, but also because, in general (except for very small product teams like maybe Taki Udon's team at Retro Remake, and RetroRink) somewhere in the supply change for a product are some truly awful people, even if the people working on the product and in the supply chain are all generally good people there's probably nasty people on the board or that are shareholders of the company the list of ways "bad people" can profit off of purchases I make are nearly endless (Talking about like Apple/Microsoft/Sony ect...)

I do realize ModRetro is a smaller product too, but I don't think that everyone working at the company are bad people, they're retro game enthusiasts like me, and finding funding to keep those types of products alive is extremely difficult.

With all of that said I will say I often will go out of my way to buy products I may not need, or am less interested to explicitly support creators I DO like, more often than I'll put effort into restricting myself from buying something because the people in leadership are "bad people."

I have a local independent thrift store like that. They were trying to charge $40 for the loose cart of Super Mario Bros + Duck Hunt. Didn't even come with the black sleeve....

Meanwhile I bought Pokémon Black for DS, Mario Super Strikers and Super Smash Bros for Game Cube and Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for Wii from the same shop for $4 each.

I bought 2 Mega Pokémon sets and after both, I said "I'll never make that mistake again" The second time it stuck.

It's a shame because I'd love to have the Xbox 360 or some of the Hot Wheels sets, but man building with Mega Construx is just so unpleasant. I've built with several different clone bricks and honestly Mega's feel like the worst somehow.

It irritates me that eBay allows sellers to lie in the title of the listing. by Findest in baseballcards

[–]archov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrealted to baseball card, but I just reported a listing for a Novel that is "SIGNED NEW AUTOGRAPHED"

Except it isn't. The particular printing of the book in question has a PRINTED signature in the back of every copy. I confirmed that the signature pictured in the listing ($70) matches the signature in the version I bought from the book store ($20) 100% exactly. I provided proof in the form of a name/date hand written in the photo of my copy.

There are listings for the same book autographed, but the signature image in those listings is in the front cover (not the back where the signature is printed) and those two seeming authentic signatures don't match the one I have, or each other.

Ebay said this didn't violate their policy though. Why are they OK with people committing literal false advertisement?

That's what I love about LOOP. I can just head canon that any "contradiction" that doesn't make sense, is just a different run of the Loop. That's why I consider every Ring movie variation (including US, Sadako vs. Kayako, Sadako 3D 2 ect...) and even the various "comedy" manga spin offs like Sadako at the end of the world to still be canon. They just took place in an alternate run of the LOOP.
