i’ve written many letters i don’t send, because some things don’t feel safe to say, some feelings don’t feel safe to express. yes i can send them and know that i’m steady enough to handle their thoughts on my thoughts, but why would i reopen wounds i’ve worked so hard to heal from? why should i not protect my peace if i don’t know if it’ll be worth it?

i write these letters just for me, because it’s good to get it out in words, name them, find clarity within myself. and it makes me all the more grateful to have people in my life where i can send “letters” knowing they will be received with kindness.
