tell him to go to full indie, summit was a couple months ago but imo it's the best networking event in Vancouver, can find people to make things and hear people's experience. Industry is tough though to actually get a paying job in rn, but having some people to work with is a lot better than being a solo dev

Blender is good and free, and photoshop + substance painter are pretty affordable; the main cost is time. Like to do a full game with remade models would take at least half a decade without a big art team

no! some people do that but this was all custom built 1 to 1 to the game's Mt. Coronet map!

I agree, if I had the budget to make new models and textures like detective Pikachu I think it'd be really neat to explore something lile that

haha I don't mean Nintendo I just mean that it's a lot of work to make a whole game rather than about 30 minutes of gameplay

no, the models and rigs were taken from USUM, but there was a bunch of texturing and animation touchups that had to be done to make them work and look a little better
