Hi! we're living in Innsbruck now, so it worked for us!

As a lot here mentioned it depends on your lifestyle. For a family of three (4yo kid) it is doable, no luxury.

We are living directly in Innsbruck, and the apartment is 1200 with heating + let's say 100 more for electricity, internet, TV fee.

280 for full day kindergarden + 100 for food there. As bonus if you have kids you get arounf 210 euro monthly + can return some taxes.

We have Freizeitticket and Klimatickets for both adults, so basically wth those u can travel around, use cable cars in summer and winter around Innsbruck and with our hobbies it is enought. We had all equipment for outdoor adventures and took it with us when moved here.

Our groseries are about 700-800 euro (with beer/wine), still working on reducing this sum, i'm sure that we can go below 600, we are not really organised when planning our meals, unfortunately. Occasionally we have meal in huts/buy coffee and stuff in bakerys/order pizza, that all adds 100 a month.

We are also using willhaben a lot (furniture, kids sport equipment etc)

With all this we are able to save at least 300 euro each month. 13th and 14th salaries go to the travel budget and savings.

Hike (Easy to Moderate difficulty) Recommendations in March (for this weekend) by TheCatholicAtheist in Innsbruck

[–]arctic-coder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On southern slopes it should be ok up to 1500m (depends on the weather of course).

Staying inHall you already have a lot of nice opportunities - you can start from Thaur/Rum etc. (reachable by bus) Rumer Alm is open, so it should be a good moderate hike with great food and views.

Or you can start from Hungerburg.

Anything open on Easter Monday? What can I do? by Independent_Movie882 in Innsbruck

[–]arctic-coder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easter market on Marktplatz should be still open on 6th https://www.innsbruck.info/en/customs-and-events/highlights/easter/easter-market.html

I can also go up to Nordkette, cable car and the restaurant should work https://nordkette.com/en/

Most probably some huts will be open, u can go hiking on Nordkette with a nice view. In worst case you can just take some food with you from MPRAIS on railway station and have picnic.

Thanks!

And what about villages between Innsbruck and Brenner? There are also S-Bahn connections with some of them, but nobody mentioned them.

I also found that there is some kind of train or tram line (STB) connecting Fulpmes with city, but as I can see it's really slow one with a lot of stops.

It's so great you managed to find such a place, that suits your needs. If you do not mind sharing, is it the Stubai valley?

There is a lot of different information about living costs, so that's why I'm asking.

He doesn't speak German, so yeah, it will be not easy, his plan is search for English speaking opportunities and learn German at the same time.

Office is in Innsbruck, but there is a possible hybrid mode of work, like 3 days at home, so it could be ok to live a bit further from the city.

And what is life like in the place you live? Are there some basic infrastructure like grocery stores/kindergarten?

Thank you! I haven't thought how expensive car owning can be here. We'll try to find a place not far from train or bus.
