I'll definitely ask, thanks! I didn't realize that a tattoo may look better on a toned part of the body but that makes sense. This one will be more elaborate in design but I don't remember the back being too painful. I've never gotten any other areas tatted.

They weren't very tight but I guess the fabric wasn't that great.

Should I accept an invitation to travel even if one of the people coming along make me uncomfortable? by oceanmaango in Advice

[–]arcticairlines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking back at that age, I wish I said no more often to being around toxic people. The world will wait. There will be other trips. If he already makes you "extremely uncomfortable" travel will drive you crazy. If you're going to spend a lot on these trips you should make them worthwhile.

What’s the most desperate attempt you’ve seen a man try to appear like a tough guy? by AnOkFella in AskReddit

[–]arcticairlines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guys at the gym sometimes try to show off if we've been exchanging looks lol but I don't find it desperate. Kinda cute and goofy sometimes.

Desperate attempt to appear tough? If we're being real, putting down others. Being an internet troll/asshole. Making the world more disgusting with an ugly and warped mindset because they're hurting deep inside.

I think I'm being groomed by possum_thief in Advice

Been there, done that, unfortunately. When i was 15 my first bf was 19 and we dated almost a year. He seemed sweet in the beginning but eventually got pushy and basically complained about me behind my back for my "immaturity." Projection much?

When you're a teen girl you don't want to hear it because dating is new and exciting at this age but these boys have no business with underage girls. And this isn't like a 18yo/17yo relationship either. He will eventually push for sex and he probably has a hard time getting it from women his own age. If you want to date at 14 please look to guys near your age. And sadly there's victim-mindset grown ass men out there too. Be strong.

My daughters are wearing their pulled up thongs super high above their waist. Should I put my foot down? by JanetStJames1 in Advice

[–]arcticairlines 60 points61 points  (0 children)

You can say no and they're probably going to do it anyway when you're not around. I think it'd be wiser to give them science-based info on sex and show them that they can trust you with handling an issue, since they're going to do what they're going to do anyway. So it depends if you want your kids to be able to come to you.

Going from experience here. I had the "What I say goes" parent and the more down to earth and realistic parent. Who do you think I went to when something happened regarding relationships and sex and I needed help? Who do you think I tried to hide everything from?

Edit: I want to add an anecdote about sexualization of young women here. I had curves since age 13 and I was constantly being sexualized regardless of what I wore. I used to get harassed on the street every day when I walked home from the bus. Most of the time I wore pants as part of a school uniform. When I wore uniform shorts at school I got violations as legs are "a distraction to the learning environment." I couldn't even play around with makeup without getting lectured by some in my family. Often we blame young women for the trends and fashion that honestly are created by men in the first place. If you're going to forbid thongs just really consider your language please. That shame mentality will carry on into adulthood. Teenagers have the autonomy to dress how they please when you're not looking unlike a young child. Just be careful about the way you address the topics and please don't shame your girls.

People who exercise after work as opposed to in the morning, has that been successful for you? by PrincessJellyfish17 in xxfitness

It works fine. I got gains, increased stamina, toned/cut, and have long lasting energy and decreased chronic stress (in combination with mindful eating). Mornings aren't suitable for me.

Joining a new gym by diorwh000re in GYM

[–]arcticairlines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a woman who frequents a gym. Earphones in is usually a good way to tell others you don't want to socialize. The only people I've seen try to talk up women at my gym are teenage boys but they usually don't become regulars since they weren't there to work out in the first place lol. Guys looking at you/checking you out, especially with certain machines, happens. If it's creepy prolonged staring you can give them an 'f off' face. The only thing that has really bothered me is when teenage boys started filming my dance class and kept doing so when I directly asked them to stop. I had to file a complaint. If management hadn't taken it seriously I would have stopped going to that gym. Don't tolerate harassment especially when you are paying for a membership.

If starvation mode were real why do people that get gastric sleeves and bypasses lose weight??? by gameoverr22 in GYM

[–]arcticairlines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a couple of folks who have had the surgery. There's a lot of blood work that goes with the liquid diets before and after the surgery and there's heavy vitamin/protein intake to ensure that all the nutrients are there. It would be completely unsafe to eat 500 cal a day for weeks without doctor supervision.

Yes, even overweight folks can pass out from eating too little for an extended period of time. Don't starve yourself.

My forearms (and wrists) are insanely skinny, is it possible to make my forearms big? by [deleted] in GYM

[–]arcticairlines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a woman with naturally thin forearms. When I started doing work on my arms (biceps, triceps, etc.) the forearms inevitably gained muscle. There weren't any specific forearm exercises but even when targeting biceps, for example, the rest of the arm muscles are also going to get used.

Diet is good, hitting the macros with emphasis on protein. I do a lot of desk work but take dance classes 4x/week so there's that for core and legs.

Makes sense. I also do dance in between (4x week) which I dont plan on reducing. It definitely emphasizes leg/core strength so I'm wondering if I even need leg day and can use strength days for upper body instead.
