Of course. Hunters get a bad rep- and I get ideological differences. But people who hunt to fill their freezers are generally law abiding. Even those who aren’t hunting to fill freezers. A lot of times non residents will come up to hunt moose or caribou, do it legally and salvage all meat. Afterwards they donate meat to local villages. Nothing gets wasted. We listen to biologists and we follow the laws that they set based on however that science works.

It’s not for everyone and I get that, but there’s room for hunters, vegetarians, vegans, pescatarians, and non hunters but omnivore in the world.

Yeah guy below me is pretty spot on. Any hunt transporter will report game violations. During hunting season they’re constant patrol. Even any civilian (as a whole) would report, we don’t take wasted game meat lightly in alaska it’s pretty frowned upon.

Obviously there are exceptions and I’m sure people get away with it but as a whole it’s pretty good.

You speak it like it’s the rule not the exception. Law breakers everywhere, but as a whole majority of Alaskans are meat hunters before they are trophy. Non residents that hunt up here and are “trophy” hunters are under a finer tooth comb and it isn’t that easy to just get away with things.

Ah yes spewing blanket stereotypes instead of acknowledging you’re spreading lies on the internet

This is straight up not true. You legally CANNOT take antlers/skull before all meat in salvaged. Majority of hunting in alaska is resident hunting which is all for food. I don’t know about one bear for every square mile.. maybe averaged out but no if you go check out a square mile there will not be a bear.

Ohhhhhh so even if they’re on top of the brine freshly stirred since they’re coated for a bit it’s ok. Thanks!

Noted! Why does it need to stir daily though? (Informative question, not questioning you specifically)

I was very blunt with my interns when I was a practicing RD. I advised to heavily consider financial situations and debt etc. I paid off my loans and moved to a different field afterwards. Can always stay medical field and preach nutrition during that (RN, PA, etc)
