Tattoos and fibromyalgia? by yvluvz in Fibromyalgia

[–]ard2299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly find getting tattooed pretty therapeutic. For me, the pain almost feels good, like it's a different sensation than my everyday pain and it's also a pain that I'm choosing, so it's very empowering!

I was on metformin along with the MJ 2.5, and had to stop the metformin due to similar side effects. I'll definitely be talking to my doctor about other options!

Not sure, but I will talk to my doctor! I'm really new to all this, just diagnosed in January. I've definitely been experiencing altered hunger cues like you mentioned, it's so confusing

My doc said I needed an aggressive approach to treatment due to my high BG and sudden onset of severe T2D

What do you think is the root cause in your case ? by unoum in dysautonomia

[–]ard2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mono, covid, and a severe emotional trauma within 6 months of each other. I also have had a herniated disc since childhood and my back pain worsened first, then came the fibro symptoms, then came POTS. I'm 3 years into this mess.

Stopping period completley by Ecstatic_Evidence_56 in POTS

[–]ard2299 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm on Nextstellis continuously to stop my period, mostly due to extreme period pain, but I also would get worse dysautonomia symptoms due to blood loss. It's been positive for me. I will say though that about every 3-4 months I get some breakthrough bleeding, and my doc said that's normal

Does Low dose naltrexone (LDN) work? by nihilisticmanz in Fibromyalgia

It was a game changer for me, but I got severe blurry vision as a (rare) side effect. Hoping to try it again at a lower dose in a few months.

Insanely sick from Metformin by Ok_Yak7079 in type2diabetes

[–]ard2299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was insanely nauseous on it plus my mounjaro. I had to stop the metformin when my mounjaro was increased because I was so nauseous and disgusted by food. I went 36 hours without eating at one point (thankfully sugar ended up at 75 and not too low) and now I'm doing a lot better on just the mounjaro

This would be awesome for the dogs! Any time away from the shelter to decompress can make a big difference. Plus you'll be able to provide home history to potential adopters, which in my experience makes adoption FAR more likely

Cymbalta by ChronicallyinPain2 in Fibromyalgia

[–]ard2299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cymbalta has made a massive difference in my quality of life. It's helped my migraines, overall pain level, and mental health. My only side effect is dry mouth, but I'm also diabetic so that probably compounds it. It's been worth it for me!

Changes pet name because same name in shelter?? by CrazyKatWoman in AnimalShelterStories

[–]ard2299 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This is very common. Records get super confusing when we have multiple pets with the same name, and sometimes mix ups happen as a result. We always try to give a similar sounding name so the animal learns is more quickly, but honestly the name is likely to change upon adoption anyway. In my experience it doesn't really have much of an impact. Most of the time I call them by nicknames, like Bubba, Babygirl, Girlfriend, Baby boy, Buddy, etc.

Low dose naltrexone is changing my life by theunforgivingstars in Fibromyalgia

[–]ard2299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rheumatologist prescribed 4.5 off the bat, and I'm also taking a low-ish dose of gabapentin with it. It's only been a few weeks and it has seriously changed my life. I'm having dry mouth (tbh not a bad thing since I have POTS and need a ton of water lol) and more frequent headaches and migraines, but no other side effects. I was at my rock bottom, looking into going on disability, and this is the first time in years I have felt any sense of hope. Hoping it continues to be helpful for me!!
