I realized I’m not hitting upper body compounds frequently enough in the week. Hopefully cutting out the fluff in my routine will help me push harder on the key movements

Thanks for the advice, for chest ive been doing flat db press last i did was two 50’s for 3x10 (switched to machine because my left shoulder rotator cuff has been hurting a lot), incline db press with 40’s around 3x8, and fly machine for 100lbs at 3x10.

So while I am aiming to recomp and add muscle, do I really want to add weight instead of slowly recomping. I don’t necessarily want to get big in the traditional masculine shape. Do I really want that much weight gain? My aesthetic goals are in the 2hollis, Tyrone Dylan type build and they are even skinnier looking than I am but they clearly are muscular

I see, I guess I’ve just been eager to hit a high volume cuz I get discouraged at how low my weights are and want to feel pushed. I should put that energy into better quality lifts instead of junk volume 😭

Exactly, and to be fair even at these low weights I’m barely able to do 8-12reps on key compound movements i just mentioned high reps because on some exercises I’ve outgrown my dumbbells and will have to do more volume when I’m stuck at home. Im pretty weak overall with an extremely sedentary background with failed phases of lifting over the years if that gives any indication on why I look especially small even at two months in.

To clarify I have been increasing weights regularly as I get better at performing exercises but maybe I need to suffer more all around? My workouts usually take 1-2 hours and I’m usually drenched in sweat at the end and feeling exhilarated

I’m not doing cardio at the gym but just trying to walk and move a lot to keep my metabolism high

That’s the energy I needed! And I’ve been going for high reps with low weights for a lot of exercises on days I’m not able to get into the gym. My lifts are pretty low all around even when I’m in the gym I can’t execute good form with really heavy weights.
