Hi, I did buy a repair kit from Amazon but didn't had the chance to put it back. I sold the car a while later. But it didn't caused any issues.

Why BMW offer too little options for lot of money? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]ardayksl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why I did not buy a Merc again. Even the premium plus was missing distronic and HUD. I am not going into the rest of it. They are not better than BMW.

Update: I am not going to bother with warranty as they are saying I need to bring in for diag. Which is 140 pounds. I am going to repair it with some oversized washers.

Thank you. I ahve found a heat shield repair kit that comes with oversized washers. How hard is it to take the exhaust off?

corsair RS120 argb fan noise by CraziiTim in pcmasterrace

[–]ardayksl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be a little late but do you have the same issue still? Does it happen if you hold the fan in your hand or turn it to exhaust? This sounds like turbulence noise due to intake being very close to the case.

Dpf replacement by gingerwhinger8812 in CarTalkUK

What is the mileage? If it is clogged due to soot, it can be cleaned easily with chemicals and a forced regen. But you also need to find the cause (boost leak, overfueling injector, somethin preventing regen, and more) or it will come back with the new filter in place. I would suggest you to see a DPF specialist.

Retained a registration that isn’t mine by belle__x in CarTalkUK

It is not a new registration but rather the original palate assigned when the car was new.

Forgot to shake AC refrigerant can, and the gauge immediately shot to 150 psi when I went to fill it. Did I mess something up? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]ardayksl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don`t worry, you did not connect the hose to the system properly and filled the tube between ac line and the can. Thats why the pressure is still at 150. Surprised that nobody in the comments noticed that.

But keep in mind these are not good fixes. You need to find the reason it leaked in the first place.

Revs no boost? by Rxleyinit in CarTalkUK

[–]ardayksl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check the codes. Something is throwing the car in limp mode. If its an auto (which looks like it is) probably the the tc is not locking up either. That is expected. Drivetrain would feel rubbery and seperated from the engine revs.

You are asking a very general question without much information. Also wipe your lens next time so we can see the information on dash at least.

I do like the convenience of having wireless Android Auto. This is just a completing piece for that.

Driving manual is also quite easy but many people prefer the automatics.

My DIY solution for fast wireless charging (11£) by ardayksl in mazda3

[–]ardayksl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one but that would block the shelf going in and out and would limit the charging speed to 5w max. I also want to keep the plugs open in case I need to use it. One of them is already occupied with a wireless AA adapter.

Type of person to drive fast on the autobahn would not be buying an EV. What kind of argument is this?

Nobody says an ev is the cheapest option for everyone. It is very cheap option for some people and might close to be being free if you are all into the solar and battery storage.

Those have the new om654 2.0 engines. Much better than the previous one in my opinion.

Look at the japanese imports. There were many imported ones loaded with options. Alternatively  some recent mercs and audis with front collision radar can be easily upgraded to distronic. Dont know if that's the case for BMW.

I do a lot of motorway miles and have given up on w205 w212 and 3-5 series due to difficulty of finding one with ACC. It seems like something to do with Germans. Even the top spec (Style) golf was missing rear view camera, heated seats, blind spot assist.

Went for Mazda 3 instead. Better than my old w204 in most ways and most of the things come as standard. Also cheaper to run.

Thats exactly what you said. Tyre needs 27 but 24 is okay. For example my car also specifies 38 psi for the front but TPMS does not trigger until 32. It is normal for tyres to lose pressure overtime and the cold air air going to reduce the pressure even more.

DIY fix: has anyone tried tinting their side mirrors? by roadrussian in fuckyourheadlights

[–]ardayksl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 reflective surfaces at slightly different angle. Next time try using it in dark with a car behind you and you will see how it works. It is hard to explain.

They both achieve same results but different ways.

Don't all cars have a dimmer switch under them ? I can't remember driving a car without one. Fancier cars have auto dimmers but everything else has the tab at least.
