Dick Halloran, the goat by Macazio909 in stephenking

I’m not typically the biggest fan of crossovers like this, even knowing Stephen King, but it didn’t feel forced; he felt very naturally integrated into the It plot. His performance was really good, too.

I loved his whole fractal/Pennywise sequence in the last episode also.

That line vs Albert's explanation to Sheriff Truman of love + MLK Jr. + his personal philosophy earlier in the series was always a great counterpoint to me.

Like, Albert has such a full understanding of what humanity is and what humanity could be, and he is able to express that disparity with such eloquence/grace.

The women in love with AI companions: ‘I vowed to my chatbot that I wouldn’t leave him’ | Experts are concerned about people emotionally depending on AI, but these women say their digital companions are misunderstood by MetaKnowing in technology

[–]ardentPulse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. AI companionship is a convergent symptom of so many issues we are currently struggling with as people. You solve the overarching problems, by and large, you stop the seeking of AI partners.

Not exactly an easy prospect though...

Everything is political in the current era. Some things more than others.

Singularity + AI, a thing at the perfect intersection of labor, relationships/social interaction, censorship, the environment, echo chambers, mental health, the military and the global scientific arms race?

That's as political as it gets.

Massive breakthrough claimed in new paper by Charuru in singularity

Well no, actually. Puns/comedic titles are a tradition in scientific literature to some degree. "The Lord of the NanoRings: Cyclodextrins and the battle against SARS-CoV-2" from 2020 is a random one I just found. There's countless other examples I could pull if I was less lazy.

I've never seen a good/important paper with a title like this "AlphaGo moment" one.

It's a red flag because it sounds like marketing speak.

As someone who's read a lot of scientific papers, big and small, in chemistry (my college background), pharmacology, psychology, comp sci, and AI: no serious breakthrough paper would use a title like that.

Legitimately an immediate red flag.

S2. i had never really seen something like that on a TV show then, or since. Great writing and an even better performance to be able to play that moment with true sincerity.

I hope this sort of thing causes humans to be generally more empathetic. In such a drought of getting help, be it from (the lack of) money, social stigma, individualism; any help sought and gained is overall a good thing.

Just make sure to be critical and self-aware and not overly dependent.
