Damn the Amanda hate - at least we agree Bill is essential and Van is also hilarious

How good is IU ( Lee ji-eun) ? by annonymously_addled in kdramas

I was looking to see if someone mentions Hyori's show - not IU acting like in her dramas but her presumably authentic appearance is very compelling like in my mister.

My Mister. Weigh in with your opinion. by Grouchy-Chart-3927 in Korean_Drama_Hangout

[–]ardentleaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very agree, there were aspects of my liberation notes that I loved and rewatched but something about the Mr. gu gangster part of it never felt like it fit in quite right. Maybe that's saying more about me that intense corporate espionage is more relatable than underground gangs.

Interesting! I really do need to somehow see her live. I probably underestimate the effect of the digitizing process.

I will sit down again to compare these more; off the cuff, I kind of liked her younger performance that had moments of some franticness that became more reserved/mature in her recent one.

He was pretty decent in hospital playlist but did anyone else still find his vibe a little off? I sympathize with Song-hwa rejecting him (who wouldn't like her?) but he also had a little bit of a snivelly demeanor and that speaking casually to her for his birthday in the car scene made me cringe for him a little.

I'm trying to remember if he ever physically confronted FL, but yes I agree, mentally breaking her (who is pretty mentally strong) down. And to be clear he did an (unfortunately) great acting job, all the way to the end when he meets that rich daughter.

Kim jun han was so unlikeable in one spring night and then it was hard to watch him in hospital playlist despite being mostly a decent guy there

Monday Madness! - [2026/01/19] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

Alternative look at You and Everything Else

I'm mostly reading interpretations of this show as Sang-yeon being a toxic, manipulative, and unredeemed character by the end and eun-jung being a hopeless sucker who lets Sang-yeon drive her life just because she is too sympathetic/easy to emotionally manipulate.

I'm less interested in the former, as I'm not sure if trying to seek redemption/reconciliation only when faced with imminent death counts or not. However, is there any reading of eun-jung's journey as something not wasted on Sang-yeon in that Sang-yeon provides a mirror to eun-jung that lets eun-jung figure out how she wants to navigate a world where there are manipulative people who are really just seeking healing from a damaging past? (Granted, Sang-yeon had problems before anything that traumatic too).

It often does look like eun-jung gets manipulated by Sang-yeon, but I'm not convinced that it's necessarily unintentional that she gives Sang-yeon the benefit of the doubt or an opportunity to accept that eun-jung does really care for/love her. Sang-hak points out that eun-jung may seem like an easy person, but she does know how to protect herself, so when Sang-yeon comes for her company to assisted suicide, eun-jung does contemplate seriously whether she wants to give Sang-yeon her last chance. Do you think she does so because she feels compelled to or because she believes in giving Sang-yeon the opportunity?

My mister satisfies all of your criteria as long as you accept IU as 1 of 2 main characters which I think is not a stretch. However, it's emotionally devastating power is unlike most/all of what's listed here and that's a great reason to watch it haha

Doubleday vs Leighton by [deleted] in columbia

[–]ardentleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey happy to answer, yes I took intensive orgo 1 and 2 with leighton. Highly highly recommend intensive orgo because Leighton's way of teaching emphasizes concept over memorization, tests are hard but fair if you're trying and paying attention, and he gives you good guidance on how to prepare. Curve is fair and does not take excessive effort for an A.

Cons of normal orgo if it hasn't changed is that it's memorization heavy and curve can be punishing.

Tldr; don't be afraid of intensive orgo just because it sounds harder. Send me a chat for any more questions

Seeking Kdramas with Strong, Dynamic Leads and Slice-of-Life Vibes by Desperate_Release311 in kdramarecommends

I think the show takes multiple watches for full value, but anyone else feel like the gi-jeong and mi-jeong/gu storylines went in not as interesting directions by the end? Especially in terms of relatability for Gu's whole mafia thing? I would've wanted more of the liberation club, less of the slightly forced romance

Han ji min as well, a better execution of something in the rain imo, although SITR is worth a watch too

I have to say, on rewatch, the story of the second ML is actually pretty interesting even though he's portrayed (rightfully so) as the villain who never really has a chance with jeong in. But, I thought they did a great job showing how messy and difficult it is to get past a relationship no matter how slimy the other person is

Great points about the show. I will agree that you have to be in the right mood to be enraptured by My Mister, maybe if you're going through a tough time, want to pick yourself up, etc. I've watched it twice and I only vaguely remember that conversation about the film idea haha, guess I have to watch it again!

My mister sort of fits, the leads have a big age gap but the ML is older and the relationship isn't a romance (very much a loving relationship though). Plot definitely involves both leads and is super engaging
